And Sam (and I really think we're nicely set up for some strong Sam stuff in S3 now, so yay!). Like I said in LJ about What Is..., the season's been largely about Dean's failure to cope, but there's been this B thread of Sam really becoming his own person within the family structure, and the episode tag was a prime example of that. Oh, Sam. Please remain mostly awesome, chance of evil, clearing back into awesome as we approach 3x22.
Interesting to see the showdown happen as it did, with their support coming in the form of their found mother and father figures (and The Ghost of John, with which I am sadly earwormed).
Also, were PWNED! not already true regarding Dean and myself, his apology to Bobby after snapping would've cemented it.

I agree with Plei in the shift in the balance of strength from Dean to Sam in S3. Said so in my LJ, along with more rambles, here. I do think that's been happening all through S2, subtly, which is not something I'd ever accuse SPN of being, ordinarily. But I think that's part of the dynamic in S2, and I'm looking forward to seeing it play out. In S*3*! Yay for that.

I was thinking about this yesterday. They do a good job of balancing the two characters, but I think S1 belonged to Sam and S2 belonged to Dean. And now we're swinging back to give S3 to improved!action!Sam.
