Natter Area 51: The Truthiness Is in Here
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Well, I got the letter from UofI--I didn't get in. I'm making myself try and feel better by telling myself it is one of the top two MLIS programs in the country, and the online version has a very limited number of positions open, but it isn't really working right now.
This will help financially this year (between the diet and the wedding, this summer and fall would have been very tight if I had to fit in school as well), and I can wait a bit to get a new computer. I'm just going to work on getting me and my finances in better shape, and then I think I'll try and apply for the on-campus program next year (which I've been accepted to twice in the past). I'll try and get an assistantship (it'll help those interviews if I'm skinnier), and if that doesn't work, well, I can always go for the student loan.
Sigh.
I'm sorry to hear that, Kathy, but your plan sounds excellent.
I'm sorry for the disappointing news, Kathy. I was just telling my sister about your dieting success yesterday when we were celebrating her birthday. She has lost 50+ pounds and has finally broken the 300 mark, which was a wonderful thing. It is such hard work to stay on track.
It sounds like you will find a way to make school happen too. Student Loans - ah, join the club.
I am so sorry, Kathy. I do want to tell you that your other successes are very inspiring to me, and I am confidant that you will find a way to the MLS-- maybe not the one you hoped for, but one.
I'm sorry, Kathy. May the future find you getting what you want.
Thanks for the support, everyone! I got the letter when I got home, but before then I had stopped by the grocery store for supplies for the week. I did add two items to the cart that I didn't need (damn you, one-day sales, for making the prices on my favorite sweets impossible to resist!), so I'm going to eat those tonight while I'm feeling sorry for myself, and then back on the diet tomorrow. My ears are (mostly) over the sinus infection, so I think I'll try and go for a swim on the way home tomorrow night, for the first time in a few weeks.
Oh, and best of luck to your sister, Laura! I'm hoping to get to the 300 pound mark either by the wedding or right afterward, so by Halloween at the latest.
Kathy, you're obviously a woman with plans. You'll work something good out.
And in migraine news: happy happy joy joy.
Today's massage has been postponed, so I'm home hiding. Sat at my desk mostly all day--no lunch break. Walking to my car I realised that walking hurt my shoulder more than typing, at least at my desk.
Irritating.

I've decided the linky above is wrong and mistaken and not sense making. The only damage from migraines is double posting.
I have still never seen the Colbert flavor.
I have some of the Colbert ice cream in my freezer right now, and to be honest, I'm not that thrilled with it. For something with that much in it, it's sort of bland.
I fractured a tooth.
Ouch. I hope it doesn't hurt too much.
Well, I got the letter from UofI--I didn't get in.
I'm sorry to hear that. They rejected me for a job once too.
Perhaps we should smite them.
IOmeme news: Oh dear lord. Before I even got all the way signed in this morning, the phone rang with a two hour project, and it just never stopped all fricking day. It was like they think they pay me to work or something.
