I think I'm going to have to go to the emergency room/24-hour treatment center tonight for my sinus infection. Due to HMO paperwork issues, I can't go to my new doctor until May 1, and my old doctor won't be available this weekend, but I can't stand the sore throat/ears (and now a very tingly tongue, as well) anymore--I can't sleep at night, I'm getting a bit dehydrated because I can't swallow, and I'm feeling very zoned out all the time. It'll cost me for the copay, but if they can just prescribe me some antibiotics, I'll be much happier.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Latst on Teddy. Kidney function is now out of the normal range. Not far outside, but outside. Current action pending more tests -- daily subcutaneous fluids (to improve kidney function and help wash out calcium) and a lower protein diet (which also has less calcium). The fluids may contain vitamin B-12, which is an appetite stimulant.

On the bright side, his appetite does seem to have increased during the last couple of days.

Today just kind of exploded all over the place. I'm just getting around to lunch. And posting this.

Glad Teddy's improving markedly.

Punishingly Intricate

I just got back from the mall where I bought (as far as I can recall) my first real suit ever. It was the first one I tried on (at B-A-N-A-N-A-S Republic) and I got a size down pants from the size I normally wear. Size 8, actually, which I haven't worn in probably 10 years. I know BR's sizing is wackaloon but it was still encouraging.

I'm a little scared of my shopping luck...maybe I should go play the lottery or something...

Last night I had this great idea for a "while away Friday afternoon" discussing at the b.org. And can I remember it? Nope.

Very impressive, Kathy!

Kat, I had a dorm fridge that got cold enough to use as a freezer. I think that might be cheaper than a wine fridge.

Kidney~ma for Teddy.

Dog has not thrown up since yesterday, I thnk he is okay.

Hooray for lisah's size 8 suit! Get yourself a scratcher while your hot.

Congrats on doing so well, Kathy!

My own weight news is less dramatic, but I'm a few pounds down from where I was last week, which means I've relost most of the weight that boomeranged upwards after I quit Atkins, and more importantly the high fiber diet I'm now on still has potential for continuing weight loss. I'm pretty sure I can maintain it indefinitely over the summer without worrying about its effects on my cardiovascular health.

jacket

trousers

sweater (which is not teal at all, irl, way more blue)

I got a scratcher on Saturday and it was super-complicated! It took me like 15 minutes to figure out I'd won jack.

Yay, Matt, on finding the best diet for your health! My dad did really well on Atkins, but had to give it up due to the same concerns, so he's back on the low-fat/high exercise program.

Mom's lost a few pounds in the past few weeks as well, but she now has gout in her little toe, so she's staying off of it this weekend until the meds kick in. Unfortunately, the now-standard treatment for gout is in the NSAID category of meds she can't take (an allergic reaction to Clinoril nearly killed her back in '79), so she's on an older and slower-acting drug.
