Yay, Matt, on finding the best diet for your health! My dad did really well on Atkins, but had to give it up due to the same concerns, so he's back on the low-fat/high exercise program.
Mom's lost a few pounds in the past few weeks as well, but she now has gout in her little toe, so she's staying off of it this weekend until the meds kick in. Unfortunately, the now-standard treatment for gout is in the NSAID category of meds she can't take (an allergic reaction to Clinoril nearly killed her back in '79), so she's on an older and slower-acting drug.
Am I the only one picturing Kathy's mom in a smoking jacket with a glass of port?
Love the outfit, Lisah! I am off to the mall this afternoon to find a jacket to wear to Minneapolis when I go out there in May. They keep the office way wicked cold, and I need something casual-but-chic to throw on so I look somewhat put-together and don't freeze.

Hee!! I said, "Isn't that an 18th-century thing?" Gout makes me think of Benjamin Franklin in 1776, telling someone that he wished King George "felt like my big toe, all over!"
Yay for cool suits and working diets!
What are people doing this weekend?
I'm seeing a show at a bar near me in Brooklyn on Saturday night. On Sunday, I'm going to try to go to the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx.
Trying to whittle down my possessions by 50%.
And, more importantly, seeing lisah's band and roller derby on Sunday.
Shaun of the Dead
tonight. That's all I got & it feels plenty.
Taking my folks out for Mom's belated birthday dinner tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to the Memphis Carnival of Arts where there will be live music, bookmaking, unicycles, and tours of the MCA campus.
And I will get my hair cut this weekend if I have to pull a Britney in the middle of Mastercuts and use the clippers myself.
