Heh. Try being a Flyers fan from birth, and a Caps fan by adoption. I don't know which team was more painful to watch this year.

Ahem. points at screen name Only Cubs fans get bragging rights over me in the playoffs pain competition.

This year I'm rooting for the Ducks, despite no longer having an ownership stake in them. The other remaining teams have at most one or two players I like, but Anaheim has Brad May, Chris Pronger, the Niedermayer Brothers, and former Bruin Sean O'Donnell.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So it looks like I'm coming down from the ivory tower and heading San Francisco way.

Rock! I'm very excited to have you in SF.

Allyson, I'd totally tour with you.

Daisy, I very nearly wrote back to the editor and said, "You know my friend Daisy could write a better thing about the south than I could" - but I needed the money.

It's warm and sunny, and I just saw a dude wandering down the street dressed like a banana.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just had to send my new person back to the printer jam with no instructions. The fact is, all I know is "open everything up and see what happens," and I need her to be able to figure this stuff out! This morning there was a printer problem, which I solved for her by poking buttons at random. She could have done that!

Now tagless for your comfort.

The Great Convergence of Buffistas continues! Megan, that's great!

Congrats, Hec!

I've been steadfastly ignoring the hockey talk on account of our sucktastic team and the ugly local happenings with our GM's firing after six losing seasons. Things haven't been pleasant.

Thrive to spite them

I heard about Crosby playing with a broken foot. I'm not really a Pens hater. The only teams I actually hate are the Florida Panthers (in state rivals ! Boo!) and also the Thrashers. Oh and Calgary. I want the Devils to lose because they beat Tampa and because I'm so tired of hearing about Broduer and how LEGENDARY he is. (blech).

Did y'all hear the owner of the Blackhawks is threatening to sell the team if the NHLPA hires someone like Goodenow? All over blog land I've seen comments like "Yes! Please!"

Actually, I'm now on the Eastern Shore.

I knew this. Why I didn't use that information shall remain a mystery. And you should definitely join us for CCRG!

Anyway, get estimates from movers. They vary wildly. If you've got a kitchen, this is a good think to let the movers pack because it takes a professional a lot less time and it means you can leave everything right where it is until the day before you go. Start a running list of the credit card companies, etc., that will need your new address so you can check them off. Check to see if your bank has branches in SF -- if not, open an account while you're there. Banking rules are different in CA, so you'll want to transfer your account to a local branch even if your current bank has branches.
