Who's paying for your move, megan?

Well, they normally wouldn't pay for relocation at all, but are giving me $1500 as a signing bonus to help cover some of the cost. I'm getting rid of most of my furniture except for a few small things I inherited from my parents. And, of course, there are the books.

Thrive to spite them

I can't even imagine the agony of being a Flyers fan from birth and watching them this year.

(Actual explanation of MJD from wikipedia [ just have a converter tool, so I ignore the history]:

The Julian day or Julian day number (JDN) is the integer number of days that have elapsed since the initial epoch defined as noon Universal Time (UT) Monday, January 1, 4713 BC in the proleptic Julian calendar [1]. That noon-to-noon day is counted as Julian day 0.

MJD is JD- 2,400,000.5

megan, we used Moovers, Inc. and were really happy with them. The bid was $2K less than anyone else, (and they packed us!) they were on time and there was no major breakage. Since you're in NY, you should also call Delancey St. -- they're always more expensive, but they're great and you get to do a good deed. My parents used them to ship me a car from White Plains to Berkeley.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ha. Well, of course, you could always be a Blackhawks fan.

Did you guys (Pens haterz!) hear about the thing where Crosby's been playing on a broken foot since mid-March against Montreal?

Looks like I'll still be in the minority this round as I'll be cheering for the Wings over the Sharks. I don't really care, but I'm thinking Sabres will beat the Rangers. I dunno about Sens/Devils. The SO is just sick of seeing NJ, so he's pulling for Ottawa. And I'm good either way with Canucks/Ducks. Canucks/Ducks. Canucks/Ducks. Okay. I'm done now. But as far as I'm concerned the Ducks can win the cup now that their name is no longer sponsored. But Luogo played a heck of a series 1st rounder, so I wouldn't mind seeing them move on, either.

Heh. Try being a Flyers fan from birth, and a Caps fan by adoption. I don't know which team was more painful to watch this year.

Ahem. points at screen name Only Cubs fans get bragging rights over me in the playoffs pain competition.

This year I'm rooting for the Ducks, despite no longer having an ownership stake in them. The other remaining teams have at most one or two players I like, but Anaheim has Brad May, Chris Pronger, the Niedermayer Brothers, and former Bruin Sean O'Donnell.

So it looks like I'm coming down from the ivory tower and heading San Francisco way.

Rock! I'm very excited to have you in SF.

Allyson, I'd totally tour with you.

Daisy, I very nearly wrote back to the editor and said, "You know my friend Daisy could write a better thing about the south than I could" - but I needed the money.
