Lorne: Take care of yourself and ah, make sure fluffy is getting enough love. Gunn: Did he have anything? Fred: No. And who's fluffy? Are you fluffy? Gunn: He called me fluffy? Fred: He said make sure…wait. You don't think he was referring to anything of mine that's fluffy, do you? Because that would just be inappropriate.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'm waiting for the vet to call me back. I switched Boots to the special formula catfood and she has gotten sick 4 times in the last week.(Including at 5:15 am this morning) I don't know what's wrong.

In less scary, but rather annoying news, I picked up the books I requested from ILL only to discover that one of them is due tomorrow. Obviously, it'll be overdue.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

You can read the whole thing here: Missile Gap by Charles Stross

I love that he puts his stuff online for free. (Even if I never got around to finishing the eBook version of Accelerando and wound up buying it in paperback anyway.)

It's really annoying that most of my kitchen outlets (and it turns out, half my diningroom ones) are on the same circuit. Fridge+ microwave, or fridge+ toaster oven cycling on close to each other trips the circuits. Happens at least once a day. Running the micro on defrost is almost impossible.

At least the switches are right above the microwave.

Oh jeezus. Why do the freight trains suddenly start using their whistle as they pass when I have to have all my windows open (and am about 100 feet away)? They normally never blow it here. Scared the hell out of me plus, deafening.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Weird -- I just heard a train whistle. The nearest tracks are not that close.

What is even happening?

I just heard on the news that David Halberstam was killed in a car accident.
I googled, because I didn't recognize his name. The wikipedia-people are fast:
David Halberstam (April 10, 1934 - April 23, 2007) was an American journalist and author. Halberstam graduated from Harvard University with a degree in journalism in 1955 and started his career writing for the Daily Times Leader in West Point, Mississippi. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, writing for the Nashville Tennesseean, he covered the beginnings of the American Civil Rights Movement.
(and at the end)
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the San Mateo County coroner has confirmed Halberstam's death in a traffic accident approaching the Dumbarton Bridge on April 23, 2007.[1] At the time of his death, Halberstam was working on a book about the Korean War. He lived in New York City.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

So good.

I'm feeling overwhelmingly sad today.
