"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Somebody Anybody. Freaking score. I think the announcer even just said "oy." Ok. I'll have another drink.

Actually, a really good friend of ours is about to move to DC and begging for us to promise to visit. So it's likely we'll be up there within the next year or so.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Oh, shit. Kurt Vonnegut died tonight.

So it goes. sigh

I just got to hear my favorite line ever, "You can't score a goal off of of an official." Hee!

Depends on the official, and what your goal is. ba dump bump

If I'm still watching this game three days from now, someone will come feed me, right?

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Wahoo!

Somebody Anybody. Freaking score.

Heh. This is nothing. April 24, 1996 - I was a senior in college and the Washington Capitals were playing the Pittsburgh Penguins in the playoffs. I was finishing a paper for one of my classes (due, of course, the next day). The game was on in the background. Regulation ended. The first OT ended. I abandoned all pretenses of working on the paper. The second OT ended. I woke up my roommate. It still wasn't over. The freakin' game went to SEVEN periods; hell it was 44 seconds away from going to an eighth. It was finally over at 2:30 in the morning. I was exhausted just watching the game. Yes, I still had to finish my paper, but I wouldn't have traded it for all the money in the world. It was an awesome, awesome game.

Edited for context, and assurances that I will feed DJ if the game goes that long.

Off the crossbar. The announcers are getting giddy. One of them just giggled into the commercials.

Oh, now they're making fun of us saying "Well there won't be a win for Dallas today, cause it's already tomorrow there!"

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh! I am so happy to have people to watch hockey with! (Don't worry, you baseballers, you'll get your revenge on me yet!)

Okay, I tuned in. They're all giddy! Bwah.

Anyway, hee, Maria! I remember that game! The SO & I had a "Let's introduce people to hockey! party." Heheheeheheh. Was that the worst idea ever! Our last guest was our pastor, who was having a great time just being social and hanging out. He's from Pittsburgh, so he's with us for hockey, and he & I have a (deeply loving) viciously competitive rivalry going on for football.

Anyway, he finally gave up between the third and fourth intermissions. We watched the whole thing, edge of our seats. I thought I'd never have any more adrenalin left in my body, ever. I was still pretty new to the sport then, so I had never seen anything like that! The next morning we called him to let him know it was a good decision to give up.

I was introduced to hockey when I was training as a waitress here in Dallas and a guy tipped me 4 behind the glass tickets with parking passes to a Stars game. I showed them to my boss and he sent me and 2 other staff people home (one was a hockey fan, the other helped train me). It was great fun. I watched religiously until the strike.

My sports must have blood or I can't be bothered to care.
