"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Oh hey, NPR just mentioned FNL again at the beginning of a story on steroids. At first I was all excited, thinking they were going to do another story on it, but no.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I pointed it out to her and she was truly shocked. She had never really thought about it's origin, and that's just what her family said.

I never knew the origins of gyped, including the spelling. Or "Mighty white of you." I thought it refered to knights. I still have to bite my tounge on that phrase when someone does something nice, but not so nice it's knighthood worthy, and they're kinda pushing to be thanked.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

This will matter to no one but me, but DUDE. The guy who played John Jarndyce in the recent Bleak House miniseries was Wedge Antilles from Star Wars! That's just cool.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

My MIL is taking us out to dinner tonight as an early birthday thing. My birthday is next week, but she'll be on a trip then. Whee.

Isn't he Ewan McGregor's uncle?

He is! And he went to school with Ian McDiarmid. Clearly, there is no cooler man in England.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Dear Postal Worker,

if I needed an unsolicited lecture on how I need to deal with my mail in a timely manner, I would have asked my mother. As it is, you're the reason people talk about going postal.

Thanks and piss off,
Kat

PS, do not ask if I want insurance or delivery confirmation because that does not instill confidence in your organizations ability to do the one thing it is supposed to do.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Four ducks flew by my window. Aw.

A few minutes later, I heard some crazy quacking and looked out to see what was up. Duck sex was up! Two males on a female. EW!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Hot duck on duck on duck action!

I am beginning to suspect that some ducks have rather loose morals... (without going so far as to mention that thing that gets mentioned often here....)
