[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Good luck getting everything done, Emily! You will get through this year.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I'm right there with you, Emily, although my drama is not with grading. If it helps to know you're not alone in it.

Eep, Em, that sucks. Good luck. But you're what, 3/4ths of the way through the year, right?

Running List of Favorite Words Encountered Since Studying Gender Theory: heteronormative, homosociability

OK, I know from heteronormative, but what is "homosociabilty" about?

libkitty, telling us you have MORE SNOW THAT ANYBODY is really not the best way to have most of us visit, I'm thinking....me, I'm anxiously awaiting spring here...cherry blossoms in a few weeks! Of course, I'm supposed to be in LA the weekend they're lovely, but...(maybe it's just me? I don't ski, so....but see, you should come HERE, I have no futon, but I do have a couch! And cherry blossoms!!)

MORE SNOW THAT ANYBODY

No, no, no. The ski resort has more snow than any other ski resort. Down here near sea level, we have a fair amount, but not more than anybody else. Truly. We've gotten lots here, but lots has also melted, so we're near a record, but we don't have amazing quantities on the ground in town. And today, absolutely gorgeous, with the sun out and glinting on the remaining melting snow.

We won't mention the storm that's supposed to come through tonight and maybe take us over the record. No, we'll keep that quiet.

eta: On the other hand, visiting meara...hmmmm. Cherry blossoms, nice; couch, good; meara, fantabulous!

So, how much snow did you get overnight, libkitty?

Toto is acting better (more energetic) this morning, but still won't eat (or do some other important things). I'm calling his regular vet in an hour. Actually, one of the techs might be there now. Maybe I'll call now.

Our wings are not tired.

{{Toto & vw}} Did you get through to your vet?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

The context for "homosociability" I got from the paper I read, was "male homosociability" and it referred to the phenomenon of, basically, gravitating toward/ socializing with/ more comfortable personally and/or professionally with people who are like you.

The paper I was reading was attributing one aspect of the paucity of wmen in upper levels in higher education management to male homosocialbility. The golf buddy syndrome.

Did you get through to your vet?

She's not in yet, but they're calling to get the ER records faxed, and she'll call when she gets in.

Nora, that's really interesting...

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

You know a bad way to end seeing peeps? Waking up with cramps. There will need to be a nap today. I finally gave up on bed and made some coffee. And took Advil.

Mmmm, coffee.

I hope you get through to your vet, vw.

Poor Cass! That's just cruel. Bad body. No cookie.
