You'd do a deathmatch, but only after the franchise is done?
Well, I didn't say I'd do a deathmatch. But I think doing one before the franchise is done seems premature.
Doesn't deathmatch refer to the elimination of competitors, winner take all? I guess I assumed the quotes deathmatch name came from "Celebrity Deathmatch" type of thing, not because the shows were over.
They were over, and that's true, but it seemed more from boredom and finding something to do that was fun, than mourning or celebrating the demise of the shows.

I don't watch Firefly, and I don't deathmatch, but Buffistas were deathmatching for years while the shows were going on. Being tied to the shows ending is a new thing.
We've done season-ender deathmatches for yonks before the series ended.

But, the Angel franchise isn't completely dead - there has been talk (not lately) of TV movies.
I think deathmatching is likely to take a very long time. Participation in the Angel deathmatches was pretty low, and I suspect it would be even lower for a show many of us have never seen, or haven't seen in well over a year.
I would rather add Angel and Buffy than cut Firefly -- I agree that a quote per minute is excessive, but I'm not sure I see a good way to slice it down unless Nilly or a trusted Nilly substitute was willing to be ruthless.
I guess people still think Lee is nice, huh?
We never thought Lee was nice. She's just sexy.
Why wouldn't we think Lee was nice? It's not like she's got a scythe or anything.
