Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with the judgment. I wish there was a way to shut that section of the brain up. I know your rational bits know you did the right thing, and that you have an illness, and you did what you had to do to care for yourself.

Yeah, it's a pain, but it'll get better. My hospital shrink told me yesterday that even though I've had a few good nights of sleep, I'm still trying to catch up, so I need to understand that.

Huh. It's weird. Yesterday in one of the groups we were talking about wellness...what it is...the difference with recovery. I said I don't believe there is such a thing as recovery for mental illness--you get as well as you can and make adjustments in how you live your life. I just turned on the tv and there were interviews on The Today Show about recovery from eating disorders. Weird. Worlds colliding.

Last night, the kids asked when I'm going to get better, and I said, "Never."

{{{Cindy}}} You guys have had such a rough couple of months!

Our wings are not tired.

I hope they're caught.

They were! They had driven another neighbor's car a bit and left it a block away. She left her keys in the car! Then they were speeding away in their car and the coppers got em with the loot in the car. Ha!

There's a lot of judgment in my head right now

That's natural of course, and unavoidable. But no feeling bad about taking care of yourself.

Cindy, have you tried heat on your ear? sometimes lying with the ear on a heating pad will help.

Seconds this. It helps me.

Hi Todd!

Since I have to run to the office in a few minutes I made myself some espresso instead of a regular pot of coffee. So yum. I should do that more often.

Oh, boy, did I get lucky! The reading for class today is something I've already read for last semester. How cool!

What is even happening?

Oh, sheeesh. I mean, YAY, but sheesh on me. I read your whole post, too.

Can I blame the fact that we're de-caffeinating on my failure to process it? Well that, and the fact that I was laughing like a drain, because you couldn't figure out whether or not the van had been trashed by the thieves, or if it just looked that way because of the kids. Hee.

Cindy, have you tried heat on your ear? sometimes lying with the ear on a heating pad will help.

I have used my blow dryer on the ear, and I hold my tea cup up to my face (on either side of my nose) and on the ear. I haven't actually tried the heating pad. Maybe I will, today. I should add that it's much better than it was, it's just not all better. I forget that, when I let myself get my whine on. It got all better at the end of the first course of antibiotics, for about two days, and then the third day, when I woke, it was full again. And now, it's really just the left ear. The right ear is mostly better.

{{{Cindy}}} You guys have had such a rough couple of months!

It's really only been a month. Okay a month and a week. We'll muddle through. It happens when you have three kids, and it's my own fault for getting as sick as I did. If I'd admitted to myself earlier on that I was sick, I would have gone to the doctor, earlier.

Oh, boy, did I get lucky! The reading for class today is something I've already read for last semester. How cool!

Excellent. That's a little gift to start your day, huh?

Somethin' like that. I really should do some other reading, but oh well. I think I'll do some writing instead.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Laura, I'm so glad they caught those guys! Stupid thieves. No way I'd be able to tell if anyone trashed our van, either.

{{Cindy}} I do hope the ear clears soon.

I have good news. We're going to Hawaii in September. And DH's employer is paying for most of the trip--airfare, our hotel and meals (for me, too!). My sister will be keeping the kids so I am well and truly excited (and checking out the beach front hotel we'll probably be staying at).

{{{Nora}}} Feel better.

{{{Cindy}}} Feel better.

{{{vw}}} Spending a summer in St. Thomas writing sounds like a wonderful plan.

I also vote that sj is ready for a change

I'd happily take any suggestions. Everytime I have been through all the hair websites I can find, and I haven't found anything I like.

Oh, boy, did I get lucky! The reading for class today is something I've already read for last semester. How cool!

Yay! That's a nice treat for your first day back.

Lots of gronk today.

Posh looks like a walking sack of hangers but I want her hair.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

DJ, I went to sleep and I think I did OK for a few hours, but missed your asprin and ice pack tricks... I'll definitely keep them in mind for tonight. I called the nurse and practically burst into tears and I have an appointment for 4:20 this afternoon. Where I will insist on Diflucan. If it is indeed a yeast infection. Yay, vw is here! Makes me feel better already.

Sean, your dinner sounds like Teh Yum.
