A definite yay for hand-me-downs -- I got so many wonderful clothes for Sara from friends when we lived in PA, I rarely had to buy anything but onesies, pajamas, socks, and shoes. I was spoiled in a very good way.

Thanks for all the kind words about Sara's cute-itude. We think she's pretty adorable, too.

Speed is on my TV and Keanu is really kind of cute when he's being a take-charge police guy.

My boys have the same thing for handmedowns. When they get things from friends or cousins they end up wearing them most often. Must be the already been loved factor.

In good news I used this lazy day to finish my book club book. Thankfully since I didn't enjoy the writing at all. But it was the first time I did a whole book ebook style. I loved that part! Having huge fonts helped me not get tired from eye fatigue. I always thought I would hate reading a whole novel on the computer. Who know?!?

I've also bargained with the menfolk to watch A Fish Called Wanda with me before the tv turns to NBA stuff for the night. Balance people!

Not surprisingly, I have a soft spot for Speed too. He was such a cutiehead.

Do other people remember getting clothes from other people when they were kids? I can clearly remember several dresses that I loved at least in part because of who they came from.

In my book, any handmedowns that came from outside the family were better than new because trying out clothes in my room = playing dress-up, whereas store dressing rooms = torture. When the clothes came from the glamorous older girls in that one family a couple blocks over, it was style heaven (even if it was the Seventies). If the handmedowns came from my sister or my brothers, it was just blah.

I recently stumbled onto the Lonely Doll books and I found them wonderfully cute/creepy/tragic/fun. Then I read a little about the crazy sounding life of the author/photographer, Dare Wright. I'm fascinated. [link]

Cindy, I took enough meds to fall asleep (they seemed to act weirdly on me last night) and have woken up to a much more manageable level of pain.

Hand-me-downs - did I ever have anything that wasn't? Except for what my Mom made me. Dear heavens, my mom was an excellent seamstress, but she had no sense of style at all.

One of my favorite childhood books was by Dare Wright! It was about a princess who... got made real small, I think; it was told with photographs and the part of the princess was played by a doll. It was called Lona. One of my many things my mom gave away after I left home. I'd love to find a copy of it.
