Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Go to sleep! Go to sleep!
I finished teaching an hour and a half ago. Oh, lord - my wee Paul [who is UNSPEAKABLY adorable. Un. Speakably. OMG. So cute] got to take home Barney The Dog this afternoon, because he did such good handwriting/spelling homework. And he's just come in to ask me if he can give Barney a bath. And I said yes. And
then
he pointed out that this would mean he had Barney for the whole 9 days, since we're on holiday next week.
Argh.
If only he hadn't brought that to my attention... Aargh. Because it ISN'T fair at all. At all. I don't send Barney off with one person for a whole week.
But Paul's passion for Barney the dog is like unto Spike's passion for Dru, Romeo's for Juliet, Dan's for Casey. It is a mighty love, and tragically doomed (because at the end of the year he will go to another class, sans Barney) and I am helpless before it.
I am torn like a torn thing!
I have said that he can give Barney a bath, and
if Barney is clean and dry
he should bring him back to school tomorrow.
Wah. Flight to the States cancelled. Travellus interruptus.
Plus there was a fire in the embassy last night and the whole place reeks, and I have a pounding headache. I'm about ready to break out the biochem hood, except it doesn't have enough oxygen to get me through the day.
People should not have a rough Valentine's Day. It's supposed to be a fun holiday! I'm sorry that you some of you did.
Belated Happy Anniversary to Deena and Greg! Glad you guys had a good evening, even if you didn't get to go out.

Oh, Raq! How frustrating!
Just walked the dogs. It is freaking cold out, and everything is covered in about two inches of ice. It's nice.
Gronk.
Yesterday, I got out of school a little early, and decided that instead of doing any work, I would make little valentine's bags (a couple of pieces of chocolate, a homemade card) for the cast and crew of Spring Awakening, see the show standing room, and deliver the gifts at the stage door.
This was, generally, an excellent plan. The show is actually really good from standing room (and I'm a teacher, so it's not like I have problems standing for 2 hours), the cast loved the valentines, and I met one of the other big fans (who's seen it even more times than I). Unfortunately, the temperature dropped over 10ยบ DURING the show, so it was rather freezing waiting for everybody to come out, and none of the cast talked to us for more than a minute or two (not that I blame them at all. Seriously, it was COLD.)
Now, of course, I'm wondering if it was a smart move. I have my formal Principal's observation today and I have a decent number of things to do to prepare for the lesson that I could have done yesterday. I have 2 hours before school starts, but still: will my decision bite me in the ass? I guess we'll see!

Poor Fay, with the Barney drama!
I love hearing about the Kara and Aidan show.
{{{Julia}}} A spiking fever could definitely cause that, Cindy. Poor kid. Your household needs a break, like NOW.
I'm all sneezy and sniffly this morning.
And tired.
{{{Maria}}}
{{{Cindy and Julia}}} I hope you are both feeling better today.
Thanks, sj.

Yeah, at this point a stomach virus makes no sense. She didn't eat much yesterday, but she did eat some. She had crushed ice early in the morning, and crackers later on. She had toast around 2pm. She had chicken noodle soup around 7pm. She drank water, and ginger ale, and kept it all in without incident. She then got sick at 5am. It doesn't compute. Besides, this morning, she has no appetite, but says her belly feels fine.
Generally, doctors say not to wake a kid in the night to treat a fever, but I think my little girlfriend is going to be woken around midnight, tonight for a dose of something or other, just to see if it makes a difference.
I am having HORRIBLE mommy guilt, because I didn't wake for either incident. The night before last, I fell asleep on the couch, so I can see why. This morning, I was in bed, right next to Scott. I told him he should wake me. I'm trying to figure out why I don't feel grateful to have slept through it.
I'm trying to decide if I should cancel my dentist appointment for this afternoon. I am afraid of driving and of falling on the ice. I called TCG to see how bad it was out there, but he didn't call me back yet.
