Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Oh, Bev, honey. I'm sorry. I hope the rest of the day goes a little better. Hugs and loves from both me and Toto.

My migraine is back, which sucks ass so much. I had to cancel therapy, which I really kind of needed today, and now I'm going to have to cancel plans tonight and crawl back into bed. The day's only saving grace is tonight is tv night. If I'm up to it.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Mom's like your Mimi, Daisy, or has been. She's always been very idiosyncratic, and things that would ping outsiders as weird or strange behavior are really just how she moves through her days, and always have been. She's always had a so-so relationship with reality anyway, preferring her own version of national or international news, medical advice, bible teachings or child-rearing. So when gauging how far off the rails her trolley is running, you have to take her normal quirkiness into consideration.

Windi's gauge of her mom's oral hygiene regimen is a good example.

In the last two years, Mom has let go of most of her routines. We were mean and made her do her own cooking and cleaning up to the time it was apparent that she had forgotten various steps. Such as when she woke up hungry at 4AM and started frying bacon, then got sleepy and went back to bed with the stove still on.

We do almost everything for her now, but she still looks at the clock at 4PM and a lifetime of "supper ready at 6" prompts her to start a meal. Except she's forgotten a lot of the steps, or wanders away in the middle.

My job is to anticipate and forestall those abortive impulses, and so far it's working fairly well.

The alternative, a full-care facility, would make her so frantic and disoriented that as long as she's mobile and we can contain and control her, we and her doctors think she's better off at home.

All is well that ends in pizza.

...is there a cocktail out there called a Metaphor? If not, I may have to invent one. Because I think that the entertainment of mixing a metaphor would just never die.

how about true drinking Chocolate, Kahlua and a splash of Creme De Menthe?

Yeah. We did this grandma for a long time. But, eventually, it just became too much.

Heeeeeee.

Hey, was it one of you, again, who donated $150 to my marathon fund on January 25? For some reason, it only just posted to the site, and I don't recognize the name.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Okay, I shouldn't be giggling outloud at the stick figures at work, but I am.

{{Bev}} Multiply the hugs by a million, it wouldn't fit on the screen and people might get pissy with a thousand box interrupted post. You have the hardest of parental care situations that one can have. Venting is healthy, especially when you have a safe place to do it. Please don't ever stop coming here for hairpats, we'd feel cheated if we didn't get to give them out.
