I want fizzy wine. Of course, I also want to go to sleep already. Maybe I can have fizzy dreams instead.

Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I can't get to sleep. I need to be up early tomorrow to finish grading and review some stuff before class.
Instead of sleeping, I'm watching the Puppy Bowl. Very cute.
{{{Cass}}} What a shit way to find out a shit thing. I am so sorry, love.
{{{P-C}}} Your mom sucks with n extra helping of suck. Stick with your biodata that you did. I have to go back and reread and see if there was any update after the point I stopped reading for reals.
In My Kid Is Smarter Than Cindy's Kid news: smooch to Cindy
We went to a SuperBowl Party tonight at our friend Jay's house. Jay smashed his C-7 rock climbing just over a year ago and is an interrupted quadrapalegic. He's great guy, great spirit, great everything. He's from Chicago so yeah - the party was on.
His brother lives with him to help with care and what not. One of Brother's friends brought her 7 year old. Her and Em tore the place having fun. Wasn't pleased the 7 year old gave Em like, 4 brownies. With frosting. But, WTF, right? Special day.
I'm sitting next to Jay, across the room from where they are playing. Em goes to a small bowl with snacks in it. She takes a piece of popcorn and hands it to S (the 6 year old). S looks at it and hands it back to Em, Em walks over to me, says, "Here, Momma!" and hands me the piece of popcorn and goes back to playing. I look down.
Not popcorn.
Some unidentifiable pill.
WTF?
Jay looks at me, looks in my hand. "Where'd ya get that?"
"Em just brought it to me."
"Well. That would have calmed her down."
"What is it?"
"It's one my tranquilizers. For my muscle spasms."
cricket cricket
"Yeah. Well. Fuck. Sorry about that. I didn't even think about it."
"No big. At least she didn't eat it. Lemme tell you this story about my friend's kid...."
big smooch to Cindy
It looked like popcorn, not a tooth.

It looked like popcorn, not a tooth.
Thus she did not eat it.
Well, the guy was a schmuck, and she was cool and had a nice singing voice.
And she was Beau.Ti.Ful. Like woah!
Bride & Prejudice is quite good, although not as good as I'd hoped. The writers? Really not Jane Austen. And the parallels they draw don't hold very well, in some cases, imho - I mean, the Miss Bingley character was quite nice, I thought, and Lizzy was a bit of a stroppy cow. But she was v. pretty. And there were some v. funny bits.
Meanwhile, in mememe news - isn't Last dot fm a splendid thing? I'm most impressed. Go Team Interpipe! I tell it my favourite artist is Eddi Reader and it armed with this information it provides me with a lplaylist of a load of people I haven't heard of whom it thinks I may enjoy! My own personal radio station! Good Job, Computery Thing!

That sounds very cool.
(I'm still awake. It's 3:16. I teach at 9:35, but I've really got to be at my office by 8:30 to get some work done before teaching. I am so totally not falling asleep at all.)
Meep! Go sleep! Choose sleep! Perhaps a warm milky beverage might help?
(And, yes, last.fm is a Jolly Good Thing, it turns out. Props to my colleague who told me about it the other day because he'd noticed how I'm constantly hooked up to my iPod.)
Hmm. I have decaf tea, and I have soy milk. That might make a milky-type beverage. I'm not positive I have a clean mug, though.
I think it's partially that I've been sitting down all day and just haven't done anything that would get me tired. Also possibly that I was reading a spy novel when I went to bed, and reading through several scenes of torture and shoot-outs and heavy-handed attempts at moralizing wasn't exactly the best thing to put me to sleep.
Is it unusual for an 11 year old to be unable to swallow pills?
No. My brother, Ben, actually, had a terrible time and still does.
Pills I can take like a pro--liquids not so much. Cough syrup=Hell
I, on the other hand, am Robin in this. I hated the liquid so much that I started swallowing pills at around 5. Mom and dad would cut adult pills for me so I didn’t have to take the liquids. They’d make me gag and puke, so mom really liked to try to avoid that.
Oh, Aimee! That’s freaky. So glad she didn’t eat it! Poor Cindy!!!!
In mememememe news, my migraine finally broke at about 3 a.m. I feel so hung over on meds, and today is my long day at school. Blech. I’m up. I have coffee. Hopefully all will be well.
Bleh. OK, I'm dressed and about to go out and brave the cold. (I'm wearing a fuzzy sweater, because, in addition to it being 11 degrees outside, for some reason the "heating" vents in my office are pumping in cold air.) Probably a Starbuck's stop on the way will be a good idea. I think I'm going on about four hours of sleep, if that.
