Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Not gonna get sporked by me - I just might totally do it.

I did it with my vintage wildflower prints.

Why do I have to like the expensive, vintagey stuff? Why can't I just decorate her room with Dora shit and be done with it?

Because Dora stuff is tacky? (OMG, could I BE any more snooty middle class white chick? Shoot me now.)

I have a lot of Flower Fairy books. Some were mine, some my sister's. Some may have been my mother's. I love them. And I wouldn't blink at getting a $7 in-print copy and using it for decoration.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Man, I wish there was some more background noise in my office, becaue I'm reading Overheard in New York and my muffled and strangled gasps of laughter are very audible.

brillig

How is this news to people who aren't us? I mean from us it's pretend-lecherous all-in-good-fun admiration of someone attractive. On the actual news? Whahuh?

Maybe they were playing the "How dare they portray a minor this way? How dare they pander to people who look at this and go Yum! Child molesters!" thing. It's what the media were doing to Dakota Fanning's movie at Sundance, where her character got raped and Dakota insisted on playing the scene themselves. There was a great deal of moral outrage about how Dakota is obviously far too young to understand how she was being abused.

Oooh - good call.

Hell, at $7, I could buy two in cse they did the asshole thing and printed them back-to-back.

That's what I'ma do.

Hopefully, Pete approves of these fairies.

Because books.

Kids are fickle. Notoriously so. Decorate a room in Dora, and a week later Dora will persona non grata and everything will be about Blue or Elmo or whoever.

I love the fairies, Aimee. I would totally go with the book idea.

Oh, Plei, Sara is wearing her very! favorite! ever! swirl flower dress today and I took a picture. Maybe I'll even get around to posting it.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Oh, yes, please!

Aimee, cut the book up if the prints are what you want--it's a good alternative. I've sacrificed books to the decorating gods myself once or twice.

I didn't do vintage but I kept the decorations non-character related just for the reason AmyLiz says.

Plus, I had to take everything off Owen's walls because he pretty much climbs his dresser (yes, that's anchored to the wall) and pulls stuff off himself. He's so fucking destructive, it's sort of exasperating. I hope Olivia doesn't do that.

I woke up with some sort of raging cold/sinus infection. Head filled with what felt like concrete and a throat that feels like sandpaper. DH called in to take care of the kids and I've been sleeping most of the morning.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Disrobed Emma Thompson, on the other hand...

you should see Carrington, a lovely movie about the painter Dora Carrington and her relationship with Lytton Strachey, a gay writer. She has lots of lovers, and so there are more than a few scenes of tasteful nudity. Very sensual.

Oh my lord, the scene in Angels in America when she has the angel-sex is so freakin' sexy.
