Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

WHEN do children get over this love of insipid children's tunes??? WHEN!!!!!!!!!!??????????

Oh PMM, I'm so sorry! I remember those days... ugh... the worst part was I found myself humming them at work!! With my kids, they were 5-ish. The daughter went from ear-sporking Barney songs to the Lion King soundtrack, which was much easier to take. The son, on the other hand went for Weird Al... um... yeah, he's got different musical taste. BUT there is an upside! Just yesterday the 15 y.o. told me that the lunch topic between her and her friends was "who is better U2 or Duran Duran" (it was a draw)

From the BBC via Undernews:

Exhausted scientists surrender after 3-year battle to make sloth move

For three years, scientists at the University of Jena tried to persuade Mats the sloth to cooperate in an experiment on animal movement.

But nothing they tried -- not even the promise of cucumbers and spaghetti -- could persuade the lethargic Mats to get up off the floor of his cage, climb a pole and climb back down.

Owen was singing "Old Macdonald" in the grocery store this morning. I have no idea. I've been lucky at redirecting his taste to some things that I enjoy. He still likes the Curious George soundtrack and a Schoolhouse Rock CD I have. I should get the Mulan soundtrack because he really seems to remember most of the songs--and I don't hate them. Yet.

I just saw a cute video by Lisa Loeb on Noggin (who is apparently continuing to branch out into kids' music). I need to look up and see if she's released an album.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Go sloth!

I really need to get out of bed.

Robin, my sister was recently diagnosed with fibroids and is bombarded with options for management and treatment. It's a rough place. I hope whatever you opt to do goes as smoothly as possible.

Where is Jessica, dammit? I want to cheer her baby boy to her face. Inasmuch as, you know, internet, web, face.

Okay, I really need to get out of bed.

You know you can substitute the Ramones for most kids songs with a little effort. Kids also like Talking Heads and B-52s (in my experience).

Robin! I'm worried about your cooter and all its plumbing! Make sure they leave you filled with orgasms, okay? I know it'll turn out okay. I'm glad to hear that laparoscopy is an option. My mom had a hysterectomy and the incision was a painful recovery (back in the 70s).

Jen, is it much different than the incision they'd make for a C-section? JZ recovered fairly quickly from hers.
