I'm sorry Robin. I know several women that have gone down this road. All of them have just been grateful for the release from the awful symptoms that they had been suffering. Takes some recovery time, but fixing the problem is good. Also, there has been a lot of press the last few days about using alternative treatments to surgery with success. [link] Worth considering.

well...the only thing we can really figure is the railroad tracks. people go over them way too quickly and there are quite a lot of construction trucks. *shrug* most of them looked like roofing nails and that is exactly what was in my tire.

Both of my sisters and my mother had hysterectomies. Mom and Judi in their early 30s, Mona in her early 50s. I was the only one that made it through menopause with no issues. Never really had ouchy girl problems, just a bunch of miscarriages. My theory was that my lack of producing proper hormones kept me from having the issues the other women in my family had to endure.

Oh, Robin, that's so tough. But there's a couple of things to consider. First of all, for hysterectomies for fibroids, there's usually no reason to remove the ovaries, so you probably won't need hormone replacement or anything like that.

And if they don't need remove the ovaries, they can remove the uterus laparoscopically through the vagina. No huge abdominal incision, a greatly reduced recuperation time, and just a lot less disruption of your life.

Robin, my mother's been pretty happy with her hysterectomy. She had the incision style, and recovery was a little rough, but I think she wishes she'd had it done years before.
