Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We had a (gas) fireplace in our last place. Heaven.

Our little guest house, while cozy, is not the warmest place on earth. My normal evening loungewear these days is flannel pajamas with one of Jason's old sweatshirts (which has a picture of Eugene O'Neill and is HUGE on me) over them, plus fluffy socks and a down throw over my lap. Yeah, I'm a big ole vixen.

What is even happening?

Thanks, laga.

Your kids are stoners, Cindy? And I thought Canadians were "Bad-L" liberal ...
Bite your tongue, almost Jossy-named one. They were just being weirdos about how their shoes are/are not tied. Chris got in a snit because I wouldn't retie his shoe (which he's capable of tying, btw) in the driveway, on the way into the house, where I knew he was going to remove the shoes. The shoe wasn't untied. The lace wasn't dragging, even. It just wasn't tight enough to be of his liking. I wasn't going to do it, and when he persisted in whinging about it, and asking why, I told him his obsession with the condition of his shoe laces wasn't normal.

Ben then tried to convince him to chill, and by telling Chris that he (Ben) walks around with his shoes untied, half the time (true). Julia then said that she never ties or unties her sneakers, she just slips in and out of them (also true). Then I let them have the freak line.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Robin, your evening get-up sounds a lot like mine. Sex-ay ladies, that's us.

Btw, if you and/or DH have interest, I can get $10 tickets to see Amy Tan reading at my school the evening of Feb. 6th. I need to reserve soon if I'm bringing guests, so let me know when you can.

This offer good for any localista--I can reserve up to 5 tickets for my guests. Kat and Lori wanted to go, but they'll be en route to Hawaii which, despite her brilliance, does beat out Tan.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

OMG, any librarians or people skilled in finding journal articles about? I am in desperation!

Nora, what do you need?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I need a specific journal article. The cite:

Martin, J. R. (1991). The contradiction and challenge of the educated woman. Women's Studies Quarterly, XIX (1 & 2), 66-27.

I have been able to track down issue XX in 1992, but I can't find anything earlier than that!

I can't find the article just yet, but I've found a lot of stuff that refers to it, and I see 2 errors in the citation as you have it, which might be hindering your search. First, it's pages 6-27, not 66-27.

Second -- and you'd think this wouldn't be a big deal, but I put the title in quotes and it only gave me 1 result -- the version of the title most commonly used has an extra "the" before "challenge."

That is, instead of "The contradiction and challenge of the educated woman." it's "The contradiction and the challenge of the educated woman."

That's probably of no help to you, and I'm still looking.

ai yi yi. Found the article in a book by the author and it's available at the Uni that I work at (as opposed to the one I study at - Boston College-, good thing where I work has a world class li-berry, otherwise I'd never get no book-learnin'.)

So I will pick it up tomorrow. But, damn. I have the journal resources of TWO universities at my fingers and I couldn't find it. I am bummed. I hate BC's library interface anyway though.

Heh. It makes me feel strangely smug to know that my prof sucks at citation. (I C&P'd directly from the syllabus)

Don't worry about it, I found my backup. I'm just majorly frustrated about not being able to find it. Well, I found the other one I needed very easily, so I'ma blame the stupid journal.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I haven't found the article online either, but it looks like it's held in at least 684 libraries worldwide. If you didn't have access to it at work, Boston College could probably get it for you through interlibrary loan. They could probably get it for you in electronic format, and probably within a day. And you could place the request online tonight at [link] , although they probably wouldn't process it until the morning.

I'm sorry, but I used to be an interlibrary loan librarian, and I just can't help myself Nora.
