[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Is there less of a health benefit from instant oatmeal? I'm just curious because I am lazy.

I think instant oatmeal strips off the outer layer of fiber-y goodness, which lessens the health benefit, but I don't think negates it entirely. Although, I could be wrong like a wrong thing.

I need a nap. Why are there so many staff meetings on my days off?

Dude! That's no day off! You'd best be getting paid for that BS!

That would be Teh Awesome! Heh.

Our wings are not tired.

Question: "When are you and Daniel going to get married??!"

Answer: "Can you keep a secret?"

Enthusiastic reply: "Of course!"

Smile: "So can we."

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Instant oatmeal is just chock full of salty goodness--not so good if you're trying to lower BP along with your cholesterol. 400mg is a lot of salt. Canned soups also have astronomically high sodium content, and baby food used to have high sodium and sugar content. Now they have less, and have swapped cane sugar for HFCS, so, maybe not that much of an improvement.

sj, you're boiling water for tea anyway. Use the one-minute oats, add boiling water to a small pan, throw in oats and let sit while you make your tea. The oatmeal will be done by the time you're ready for it.

I made killer see-you-through-the-blizzard oatmeal for my kids when they were in school. Raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, unsalted butter and cream. Oh, baby.

Now I use a heavy sprinkle of cinnamon (my doc prescribes cinnamon supplements for me, too) and nutmeg and a dash of salt. I use the five-minute oats because I like the lumpy oat-y texture, so after they're done cooking I decant them into a bowl, add a pinch of white sugar and a splash of 2% milk, or vanilla silk. Yum.

One thing I have learned is that a *serving* of oatmeal is 1/2 cup, after cooking. Huh. Wouldja lookit that--I'd been serving about a cup and a half per person.

There is no portion size for lettuce. Dangit.
