raise the good with more exersize - it really works - then even if the numbers are too high- as long as the ratio is good they may keep him off the drugs . The only reason I am on a choleseral drug is - diabetes - they want my cholesteral as low as some one that has had a heart attack should keep their levels. My BP didn't go high until I had the bad asthma. but once again , even if my blood pressure never was high - I would probbably end up on some sort of BP medicine - because my kidneys and heart need protection. Once again , in teacup guy's favor, just a little bit more exercise and his bp may go down. When I was walking the library for 2 hours ( at an extreamely slow pace) by good cholesteral was in the 75- 80 (I think) range. 6 months later when I was no longer doing that it drop to 60-55 ( which is still good, just not as good)My sister in the navy had a doctor that thought it would be good for anyone over 40 to be on a cholesteral lowering drug - very few side effects ( my doctor would echo that - she never has had to take anyone off a cholesteral drug due to side effects) - and loweer cholesteral is good .
Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
This just in for cholesterol-concerned Bitches. CocoaVia's chocolate almond bars do not suck, have 80 calories, and are full of vitamins, flavonols and antioxidants. I just tried them today and though they aren't fabulous tasting, they satisfy my sweet tooth and have some actual, you know, nutrition-related reason for existing.
Can I ask what he did?
sj, he started watching his trasfats - trying to cut them out of his diet. He started taking fish oil and eating at least one serving of oatmeal a day. There's other stuff too, but darned if I can get him on the phone to see what he did. The only thing he missess is going to get Pakistani food twice a week, he had to cut that down to once a month.
EtA: Oh and he started exercising 6 days a week instead of his usual 4.
and on another ,prettier, subject: I am watching last weeks Supernatural. I cant figure out why am I supposed to buy the idea that Sam can go dark. He is the only one that sees grey. It seems to me that the world -is-black-and-white people have a harder time when things get ambiguious.
but look - pretty
DawnK; can I ask, how long does each exercise session last?
Thanks, Dawn! I don't cook with transfats, and I don't think TCG eats much that has them in them, but I do watch for them when I buy stuff. He does need to figure out how to fit exercise in. It is too dark out for him to walk when he gets home, which I know is his prefered form of exercise. He is not a big breakfast person, but I am going to work on trying to get him to eat oatmeal.
beth b. it's not that Sam will just go dark but that because his powers derive from the demon he will go evil unless Dean can figure out a way to save him. . . and the other way would have so much less Dean-angst.
FYI, I have oatmeal as an afternoon snack.

Sure Pete.. let's see 3 days a week he does an hour of stretching (he's got a bum knee) and then he runs 5 miles. The other 3 days he does weight training at the gym for about an hour and a half. The only bummer about this is that he has to get up at 4:20 M-F to exercise.
EtA: sj, the timing is the worst part... the DH has to get up at 4:20 to exercise then get back in time to get ready for work.

Damn, that is early. There is no way in hell TCG would get up that early. 6am is painful enough for him.
