From my syllabus:
Throughout this course, we will explore women's higher education in the United States as a gendered phenomenon. This investigation we will consider the ideological foundations and influences of women’s education; education that has at times assumed her incapable of reasoned thinking. Our examination will consider how epistemological traditions make gendered curricula possible, and the gendered status of post-secondary leadership, pedagogy, and access. We will pay particular attention to how social identity markers such as race/ethnicity, sexuality and social class factor in these analyses and phenomena. We will examine masculinity and men's roles in higher education from these perspectives.
