Nutty Has Spoken!
And I'm quite ready to obey her!
That's a decision made, and that means in all fairness that we shouldn't be re-making it just because of changes in procedure now.
The point Gandalfe and I are trying to get across is we want to discuss it because of, among other reasons, changes in circumstances, not changes in procedure. There's a war on now. The way I read the discussion, it didn't close off the necessity of a thread, the "consensus" was it wasn't needed at that time. I'm not trying to loophole an old issue b/c of new voting methods. If we were under the old method I'd bring it up now as well. You cannot use the new "closing discussion on an issue rule" to close off this discussion without the benefit of the new "voting procedures". It's unfair.
John, I wasn't criticizing either of those decisions;
That wasn't a serious post, really, sorry. And it's not a big deal, but I don't like "Phoenix" simply because it's kind of a metaphor being used wrongly. There are no ashes. We weren't born out of the fiery destruction of something, we were born of the incredibly annoying unpredictably-recurring lameness of something. To me it's a greater achievement, because we could have stuck it out at WX and put up with the lameness but we didn't.
Go Nutty.
I vote lightbulbs. Lively Debate is more Buffy-related, but "waste time" is derogatory so let's not do that.

The reasoning of the "closing discussion on an issue" rule was that it was exhausting and annoying to constantly be forced to redebate issues.
It doesn't become any less exhausting and annoying simply because the issue wasn't formally voted on.
We voted to decide things by voting, not consensus from whoever was in Beauracracy on a couple of days in the past.
That said, I'll be the third second (after Gandalfe and Noni) on the war thread.
Absolutely. Or some of us will lose our minds.
Some of us already lost our minds at the results of that last vote.
Before we discuss anything, there are 2 things that need to be done.
1. Open a Voting Discussion Thread.
2. Decide how long discussion are closed for (3 months, 6 months, 1 year are the proposals I've seen)
3. Which of course is going to lead to the inevitable-- how do we count that discussion.
Also, I am not sure whether this is a NEW war thread proposal, because no we actually have a war, in which case we should hear it out or a revival of the old one, which was defeated by our non-working consensus method, and therefore we can't bring it up again for an unspecified period of time.
Also, I don't THINK we have to vote to get a thread or an HTML page that lists the votes, results, and when they were so that we can refer to it if peopl emake new proposals.
