And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hey, I'm still here! Just because you can't see me shudder every time I see it doesn't mean it's not happening!

stupid typo...

Thrive to spite them

I don't pay attention to the post numbers at all so I see the words "number slutting" or some variation and just ignore it because it's not important and I don't look at the numbers and it doesn't bother me.

Okay, it is kind of annoying when someone takes up 4 or 5 posts to get to a number. But that doesn't happen very much anymore.

It's like the Pornies, when it first started everyone was doing it (well I didn't do it much because I forgot) but still, everyone did it. People whitefonted the porn repeated over and over for four or five lines. Eventually it got old and it died off.

I think the aggressive numberslutting is starting to die off. "Aggressive numberslutting" meaning taking up 4 or 5 posts of one word or puncuation trying to get a certian number. That I think should stop.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Although I also think it's weird and annoying when someone gets all excited about getting, say, 6044.

6044 killed my brother.

What?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I think this is the type of thing that would be more appropriate to discuss in the threads themselves than in bureaucracy. Maybe complain there when it happens, so the people doing it will see that you're annoyed. It doesn't really seem like a bureaucratic matter to me.

I also agree that it seems to be dying down a bit on its own.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

The signal-to-noise ratio is getting, to my mind, really fucking annoying.

Sure it is. But one woman's signal is another woman's noise. I was hellbent for a while on mostly "contenty posts" at least from me. But you know what, it just doesn't work that way. People numberslut or they don't and some will find it annoying some won't. Frankly, I don't know that I find numberslutting any more irritating than the ever present "WROD!" or "ITA! You have such a great brain" posts.

Obviously YIrritatantMV.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

"ITA! You have such a great brain"

HEYYYY now.

But really, I don't demand me-appropriate content from all posters, and even if I find numberslutting useless to me, it's of value to others and inoffensive.

Um, I meant that as ITA (hence the caps) and not ita. I know the difference.

But you do have a beautiful cortex.

Okay, then.

It's all good.

Thanks for all the fish.

I've been Buff diving, and I notice that shrift has very neatly changed a certain name that used to start with 'A' to 'Jamie Stemple' very nice work.

Except in post of Reema's (that seems to be an Anya of Sleeper) which contains this line.

Jamie Stemple Mann: I'm Jamie Stemple Mann!

Which just kind of demonstrates the bloody-minded literalness of global replace. And made me laugh like a drain.

Anyone who feels inclined to give up numberslutting, may I suggest you also consider giving up "What ___ said," "Edited to fix punctuation" (who cares?) and, indeed, "Wrod"?
