I'm pro-spoiler font because I am occasionally on tape delay as are other Buffistas.
And I guess because I also feel like we just talked about this and decided it a few weeks ago.

Angus, if you can remember that long enough that when we get around to #99, I say we go for it.
Kat, things have changed since a few weeks ago, in terms of what looks to be coming up ahead on the shows (speaking unspoiledly).
I'm really against a War thread, for all the reasons Jim and others have mentioned. But I'm pro-Get Smart references. And also a mailing list, which I think is the best of a bunch of bad options.
Regardless of the Faith element, some of us just can't help being on delay-- it's basketball season. Is s so hard? Are the shows going to be that integrated?
In short, I think we need to go back to the old way of having the Buffy and Angel threads concurrent, so that we can reference what was seen in one show in the other thread without worries
I totally agree.
Is whitefonting really that much of a pain in the ass to read or to write?
Yes, if there's a lot of it. And besides, the amount that sheer speculation suspects we'll be needing would be spoilery in and of itself.
but maybe there may be some who want to reference the most recent episode of the other show in spoiler font during the grace period.
We'd whitefont during the grace period.
I've been on record as being really cheesed off by this policy applying to the Buffy and Angel threads as well as to Firefly without it EVER coming up here first. In fact, it bothers me more than the Mieskie incident, or any of the other kerfuffles we've had. It just happened, there was no process, and that was, IMO, wrong.
I'd really, really, really like to discuss both shows in both fucking threads. Like we did on WX. Yes, some people are on tape delay. They were last year, too.
Right now, the only places I can discuss things cross-show are Bitches and Spoilers, and as a result, I do most of my episode speculation/analysis off the board.
Speaking of thread titles, is that the definite pick for Natter 9? We may need it Tuesday, and definitely will by Wednesday.

There was definitely an effort to keep people from being spoiled in the alternate threads on WX, PMM. I remember benefitting from it; UPN had basketball last year, too.
I'd say the policy was never so much discussed because I don't think there's a lot of contention, and, frankly, I've never seen an instance of a sustained analysis that would take both shows into account. They have very little in common these days.

See, I remember discussing both shows, and not whitefonting either. There were times in NAFDA threads where things were spoilerfonted when we knew there'd be huge delays, but not a whole season thing like we've got going on now. I mean, the people in OZ can discuss things that we're still white fonting in show threads. That's just stupid.

I've seen a lot of it, just not here, unless its in Spoilers, because the task of whitefonting the various points is too much of a pain in the ass for any sort of in-depth thing. Hell, I was reading some good essays about both shows earlier today.

Yeah, there is. It's just mostly grumbled about and then shot down. But I know damn well I'm not the only one who thinks its an issue, and who thinks it should have been discussed before being set into law.
I thought the last time this came up (January 9th according to my Nilly which says to look here: P.M. Marcontell "Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier" Jan 9, 2003 5:46:13 pm EST) that the consensus seemed to be that we need to bring it back up if it's a problem. It's a problem for PMM and possibly for Jeff. Is it a problem for anyone else?
Edited to get the correct date.
