Sorry. Does my edit take care of it?
Lyra Jane, it's whited-out on my screen.
Cordy said the line runs through Faith onscreen in a S3 episode that i just saw, didn't she? Can't remember which one. They were all in the Bronze.
From "Faith, Hope and Trick"
Cordelia:I get it. Not the horny thing. Yuck! But the two Slayer thing. There was one, and then Buffy died for, like, two minutes, so then Kendra was called, and then when she died, Faith was called.
Thanks Nilly. That quote doesn't say anything about what would happen if Buffy died again, so I'll stick with what we've got now in the FAQ.
The quote doesn't say what would happen if Buffy died again, but she did die again, didn't she? S5 ender, and there was no new slayer called?
The question in the new FAQ we're referring to is "Why wasn't another slayer called after Buffy died in 'The Gift'?"
Right. And while Joss can always change his mind, don't both logic and cannon-to-this-point tell us the line runs through Faith?
"Canon" even?
Whitefonted from [S7 whitefonted episode name] "Potential" (script - don't know if it's aired):
BUFFY: My death is what could make you a Slayer
DAWN: She has to die. I mean, if I ever was the Slayer it would mean she died.
[Edit: I agree with Schmoker - it makes much more sense that since no slayer was called upon Buffy's death at the end of S5, the line now goes through Faith, the way it went through Kendra when Kendra was alive. But, you know, sense may be more linked to math than to storytelling, so the fact that something didn't happen doesn't mean it can't happen, if I'm making any sense]
[Another Edit: somewhat freaky x-post with Jon]
don't both logic and cannon-to-this-point tell us the line runs through Faith?
No, because
1. we don't know absotively posilutely that a new Slayer
wasn't
called after The Gift, and
2. The writers could always retcon that because death #2 was a mystical death, it didn't trigger the slayer-calling-doohickey.
My point is that just because something hasn't happened doesn't mean that it canonically can never happen.
