Fair points, all. I don't think it's worthwhile to point fingers at any particular case, so much as it is to understand where the general tension is coming from. I think it basically comes down to new folks needing to take some time to understand the culture here, and us old-timers making an effort to not be quite so reactionary when newcomers act in a way that's...unconventional for here.
I think I just suggested that board etiquette is to back off rather than continue to irritate others, even if the first episode was entirely unintentional.
This is crucial because the onus is not on one person to make things right, but for both parties to make an effort to ease the friction and move the discussion back where it belongs.
In case it's not always clear, I'm not stomping unless I say I'm acting in an administrative capacity.
I'm 99.9% sure it's that way for *all* the stompy feet, and as futile a request as it might seem, our posts should be weighed appropriately.
'Swhat I figured.
It only counts if we say it counts.
I think you stompies sometimes get stuck with an unfair burden, that of "policing" the boards. I never saw that as part of your job, and I can see how it would annoy you after a while.

Yeah, well, stomping is our art.
We make it with our fingers, typing on our keyboards, day after day. That final post....
t ok, I'll stop now
