Caroma, FWIW, you're certainly more than welcome to come back to Natter. I remember the discussion in question, and threw my 2 cents in here and there. I think you're right that you are in a minority here politically, and I can grasp how that's a tough spot to be in sometimes. That discussion did get out of hand, and I'm glad that all parties involved recognized this and backed away when they did. I hppe you didn't feel that you had to back out of that thread for other people's comfort, and that if you're feeling more comfortable now, you'll reconsider.
But, unlike the current situation, it was a mature, reasoned response to a situation that had gone off the rails. And really, that's all we ask, isn't it?
[Also, I vote And the music, understandably, swells. Or whatever the correct quote is.]

I think it's more like:
And the music (and who can blame it) swells...
I, for one (or many) am so glad to have differing opinions. If we didn't, damn would it be booooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg!!
B#1: I liked blah blah.
B#2: I did, too.
B#3-645: So did we! We have nothing bad to say! We are all so foamy and fun and give the best presents and I don't disagree with anything!!
Blech.
I don't know Aimee, I like the presents part.
So, do we have a title yet?
Musical Buffistas 1: "And the music (and who can blame it) swells..."
Musical Buffistas 1: "And the music (and who can blame it) swells..."
Hmmm, it might "as the music..."
Somebody should check before we commit this to HTML. Anybody got the script handy?
My heart is still with "Give me something to sing about" for the thread title.
Ok, bearing in mind this discussion's winding down, I've trimmed this post a bit. Bottom line is, well, on the bottom line: do we have a possible consensus?
I don't think that handholding people through normal social interaction should be a requirement to any process.
Agreed. I don't think I'm proposing hand-holding in any way. They're still responsible for their actions, no one's going to make their defence for them, if they don't want to speak up during the process that's their look-out. (And, I think Cindy's suggestion that an official warning should flag Bureaucracy as the thread to watch on such matters is a good one; this would leave the onus firmly on the poster to watch the thread, but not leave anyone disadvantaged through ignorance.)
Nor do I think that this equates to any change in our policy. All that's involved is adding a bit of relevant info at the end of the already mandated warning. At issue is IMO whether we're to be seen as having an open and transparent procedure, or if it penalises newbies who don't yet know the layout of the Phoenix board.
But I think Cindy's suggestion adequately addresses that, a few other people have said they're comfortable with it and I don't know if anyone's yet objected to it; so, does anyone have an objection to official warnings mentioning the Bureaucracy thread? Do we have a consensus?
(Oh; and "Give me something to sing about" looks like a good thread title to me. I'll vote for it.)
