Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ha. mieskie/ just registered. How many times can I change my mind?

So not a coincidence.

I vote that we apologise to Connie for the squicky feeling that we're giving her by doing this, and deactivate them as they arrive.

Sorry, Connie.

I'm getting the pig!

Hi all - I'm a *newbie* and just wanted to say this -
In the very very beginning, I took it personally that no one was responding to anything I was posting. I believe I viewed it so personally because as others have said, I had read a number of discussions and wanted to be a part of the community.
However, as I reflected, I realized quite easily that with the quick expansion of the board due to numerous circumstances and the strong bond between so many Buffistas, it wasn't personal.
How are you all to know that I will be around tomorrow or the next day? Not to mention the fact that although I know who I am (kind, sweet, over so generous during gift giving events, IJS) you do not and must get to know me somewhat first.
So to make a long story short (I know, too late) I would react the same way had I been a member of this community from the beginning. I few hello's and welcomes were fitting and no less than what should have been expected.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

OK, that's just too much. Also, he's being stupid. If he really wanted to ruffle our feathers he'd change his name to something else entirely and sneak in under the radar.

I now assume he's reading the Bureaucracy Thread.

You! Mieskie! You had your shot, you pissed us off. Go find another board. I think SomethingAwful.com would suit you quite well. Or the Bulletin Boards At The End of the Universe.

Thrive to spite them

I know I said I'd step away.

But I do not think that there are two random people out there who just happen to want to use mieskie and think it's taken.

I think we should go with the "this name is too close to a user name that has been suspended/banned, please chose another" route.

Of course that may mean he will get creative and try something entirely different. And we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it.

Nicole -- don't take it personally. Sometimes a thread moves very fast, and I've found that if I only post once in a while nobody will respond to me either. Sometimes it takes a while; it also helps if post in response to someone and participate for a series of posts in an ongoing discussion. Or so I find.

Sorry, Connie.

Done.

We'll just have to play it by ear from here on in.

And no, I didn't send any e-mails. We cannot invite the poster to reregister, precisely, since an attempt with a duplicate e-mail address will fail. It needs different wording, and I don't have them at my fingertips right now.

brillig

Change your mind as much as you need to. I just have a weird affection for the phrase "innocent till proven guilty." Granted, I don't have to do the work and you're free to listen to me and say "Overruled." I will still vote to wait for him to damn himself before acting.

xpost. That's what I get for playing in the LotR thread.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Christ, it's like Buffy vs Dracula.

I'm an -ista in only the loosest sense... that is, I post sometimes.

Feh, and were that true, I wouldn't have been wondering as I napped how you were doing, as I hadn't seen you around for a couple of days.

For the record, I'm for watching out for, and deactivating, any mieskie_, _mieskie, Mie Skie, or mie_skie names

Just trying to follow the technical details:

  • he's now listed as a user, but not active, under all those names?
  • if he tries to get in, the password won't work, because ita changed it on him?
  • if he tries to register with yet another email address, he'll be rejected because it's not unique?
