Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Frankly, it makes me avoid the Firefly thread.

Again, that's just me.

love's a dream you enter though I shake and shake and shake you

I've been skimming the Firefly thread looking for F:IA news. Otherwise, it's just way too off-topic to wade through most of the time.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I think y'all are talking about two people. One is clearly a troll. The other is often rude but also contributes. I know that DX posted a warning to the troll on FF, but was he sent an email about it? I think that would be an appropriate step. Not sure what to do about the rude one.

Our wings are not tired.

I am 730 posts behind there already. I will have to wait for a day when I can do a massive skimmy read of about 100 posts per page. I usually don't mind ignoring and refusing to feed, but when the post counts get so high I just don't have time. Sigh and grumble.

Speaking only for myself, I *was* talking about 2 people. And, really, my issues are minor -- I just don't read the FF thread. I just thought I'd take the opportunity to mention my love of the ENUF filter-to-come.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Okay, I see our original troll came back. My feeling is to give him the boot with our big stompy foot. I warned him. I didn't e-mail the warning, but it was posted immediately after one of his posts.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'd tend to agree, DX. There are now several prolific posters in the FF thread whose posts make my eyes glaze over by reflex, but the one you're speaking of is demonstrating deliberately trollish behavior (as opposed to merely offensive/annoying to me). With all the newbies on the thread, a simple "don't respond and it'll go away" strategy may not be possible to implement.

If I only had a brain...

Perhaps we should start explicitly pointing people to Natter? On the one hand, this is only relocating the problem, but better Natter than Firefly.

[And go ahead and stomp the deliberate troll.]

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Part of the thread swell is from the intentional Salad Shooter Troll Deflecting.

I'd say that most of the off-topicality is from them what knows where Natter is and what to do with it. (Pleads guilty.)

If I only had a brain...

Yeah, I'm guilty too, but I'm starting to think the natteriness encourages people who want to make Michigan jokes.
