The Natterishness of the thread hadn't troubled me, but I don't see any problem with pointing people over to Natter - seems logical enough to me.
I must admit to finding the recent tone of the conversation distressing at times, but I'm not sure whether this is a case of rough edges which will eventually smooth themselves out, or whether I'm simply downright incompatible with one of the new folks. On the other hand, there are a good number of very nice new folks whom I'm happy to have around.
As regards the troll, I have no *personal* qualms about kicking him out, but our site etiquette states:
Consistent demon-like behavior may earn a warning from the Stompy Feet. If you don't listen to the warning, you will be suspended for two months. And if you come back unreformed, you will be banned. Banning is rare and very much a last resort.
He's already gotten a warning, but let's not get caught disregarding our own rules -- suspend the bastard, yes, but he's got one more strike to go before banning.
Suspending should do the trick. At the end of a couple months the troll will have found a new playground.

Please don't point that guy at natter.
Contain the troll, don't let him infect natter, please.
I think the exaggerated posting around him is likely to send the wrong message. Ignoring, rather than piling on with the LALALAWECANTHEEEERYOU, seems worth trying.
The T-R-O-L-L seems to have vanished, for now.
Though why bother to come back on Boxing Day, when no one is really around? Makes so little sense.
Insane Troll Logic, I guess.
You were just waiting for the opportunity to use that, weren't you?

Actually, no.
But when one came up, I went for it.
