You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Usually, the only things in there are the sign-up messages (of which there have been a ton lately), and very occasional "I forgot my password" e-mails, which you can handle if you see them first. Oh, and we've started getting spam, which has to be dumped.

Is it possible to get an announcement list set up for Bay Area Buffistas?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Done.

To start a subscription for an address, for example "john@host.domain", just add a hyphen and your address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word: t bayarea-subscribe-john=host.domain@buffistas.org

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

So, what's the spoiler policy in the LOTR thread? Because the other day I got spoiled for something that happens in the next movie, which I'm not sure if I'm cool with or not. I haven't read the books, so I don't know what's going to happen. But I don't want to impede the fun discussion of the vast majority of people in the thread who *have* read the books. Thoughts?

Dunno. I asked that meself and got no answer.

Thanks for all the fish.

To be fair, we can't be 100% sure of what happens in the movie, unless we are actually spoiled for that... The books themselves I think are safe to talk about - speculation about if things will happen, etc. Regarding 'Return of the King', I think that we can be reasonably assured that a King will return so it should be okay to talk about that.

Anyway, so, talking about the books is okay, comments on the film, by thems that are spoiled, not so much. That's my two cents.

Nobody

I just hope we don't have to white font for TTT.

Some people were white fonting for TTT, and my recommendation is ... no. My reflex is also that book contents are okay, but movie-specific details should be white-fonted. However, if there are enough participants who've not read the book ... well, that's why we made a spoiler font shortcut.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I vote no spoiler font for events in the books.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So are ita and the stompy feet mentioned in the FAQ? Because I think they should be. Like...

Who are ita and the Stompy Feet? Is that an old doo-wop group? Or a gang of roving feral actuaries? Does it hurt to be stomped? I don't wanna be stomped! Hold me, I'm scared.

Then list stompies and their duties and what happens when you natter in no-natter zones, or spoil inadvertently.
