Californians feel like going to the beach and being environmental and good-deedy?

California Coastal Cleanup Day is Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 a.m. – noon. There are more than 50 beaches, rivers and dive locations throughout L.A. County, and many others in the Bay Area and elsewhere

I still haven't decided which location to go to, but if any LAistas are interested, drop me a line.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Pink Gingham Junta Cocktail Party

I and JZ will be driving down to L.A. for the weekend of Nov. 8-10th (so I can be on French TV).

I have no idea who is hosting it or where, but I absolutely expect there to be a swanky cocktail party with all LAistas in attendance (cf., No Excuses post). Plan your outfits now.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Last chance to email me if you live in or around NYC and want to come see the Buffy & Angel premieres after Firefly tomorrow night! creepyturtle@att.net

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Hi all. There's been a little discussion about sending a small gift basket to Joss Whedon and Kai Cole in celebration of their first child.

Have no idea when the baby is due. Unsure if I can get any additional information.

There's been a teensy bit of discussion about sending books and a charity donation to First Book, as we did for Marti.

This would be a Buffista project.

No decisions have been made yet, but I have put the books (minus the ones we sent to Marti) back into a poll, just in case we go forward with this project.

Sprog Poll

Please discuss whether you're interested again. My thoughts are giving the top 10 books, and $100 donation to First Book.

If you'd like to email me, privately, the address is Allyson000@aol.com

Okay, Paypal is open. Allyson@DavidFury.net

I'm assuming Buffistas would like their real names on the card? If not, please let me know otherwise. If any creative soul wants to put some input into a card, please give me a shout.

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

I finally caught up to Jess's wonderful review of Spirited Away in Natter/Angel.

I would just like to remind everyone that I am organizing an expedition to see said film this saturday at DC. The theater has easy access of the red line and I am targeting a 5pm showing.

Anyone who would like to see it, drop me a line at CaBil@aol.com

Queen of the Drive-By

As many of you know, I just moved in with my Mom, and she has only basic cable. While I get UPN and WB, I do not, for some insane reason, get Fox. We're upgrading the cable, but that hasn't happened yet, so I find myself without Fox for tonight's Firefly premier! Meeeeeeeep! Who can help a girl out? Who can tape it and get it to me before next week's episode? Who likes homeade cookies and checks covering the cost of the tape and shipping? Who wants my undying devotion? Please???????? Let me know in Natter and I'll send you my address. Thanks in advance, for being wonderful and all that.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Hey! It's a big New York Times article about Joss! And it's written by my friend Emily! Go read it now!

Hi all. I would like to close the voting on the books, on Wednesday, so that I can purchase them. Remember that we are only sending the top 5, so that our charity donation will be higher.

Currently, the stats are: Where the Sidewalk Ends (6%)

Grimm’s Fairy Tales (4%)

Bridge to Terabithia (4%)

Curious George (3%)

Make Way for Ducklings (3%)

Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales (3%)

Light in the Attic (3%)

Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel (2%)

Pat the Bunny (2%)

Snowy Day, A (2%)

If you would like to mail your donation, please do so by Saturday, the 27th.

Please email me at Allyson@DavidFury.net if you would like to send a check or carefully concealed cash. Please include your board name and email address if you mail to me, so that I can let you know that I have received your donation.

Please let me know how you want your name on the card to appear.

We're up to $178 in donations, thus far!
