I was very dark today and probably will be during the work day tomorrow as we got new iMacs at work and people will be hovering around my desk trying to set it up.

Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
I'll be going semi-dark for the next week, as I'll be in Sydney, making sure (in John's absence) that the whole city hasn't been destroyed by bushfires, seeing my sister in an opera, and visiting friends, including one who's had a baby since I've last seen her. (The baby's called Lilah! The parents are not Angel watchers AFAIK.)
I will be fully dark next week. I'll be in Vegas (yeah, baby yeah!), whooping it up with my friends from Alaska. We're staying at the Stardust, so I'm hoping for a Wayne Newton sighting.
I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!
OK, it's not yet 100% official official, because the official offer letter has to come through HR. They called to let me know they want me, and to find out my current salary so they could be sure they were meeting or exceeding it. The official offer is supposed to come tomorrow sometime. I told them I'd wait for the official offer to give a definite response, but my strong inclination is to take the position. They know I'm missing most of the week of Thanksgiving because of my parents' 50th. Current plan is that I'll give notice on Monday, have 10/25 be my last day here, and start sometime between 10/30 and 11/4.
Wow. I'm giddy.
Xposting from Natter:
ita, Burrell, Alibelle, Aimee and any or all other LAistas:
I have a shopping plan. There are possibly 2 or 3 places where ita could find something gorgeous enough for her. There's a few stores in Santa Monica.
Then Pasadena has some shops in the Paseo which might work, esp. for shoes. Though, ita, the store I like best there isn't particularly you, but they do have sort of day timey clothing. The consignment shop we go to in Pasadena is also fabulous. They have plenty of casual jackets and long sleeve stuff in. And a whole bunch of fabulous dress up dresses. The consignment shop won't freak you out, ita, and it would satisfy the fabulousness desire of both Ali and Burrell.
If you want to the do the Kat certified shopping tour, with the included lunch at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffle, then e-mail me or call me. Anytime tomorrow works for me.
Aimee, call me on my cell(the number you called on Wed) about lunch today! I won't be able to check e-mail before then.

"I've had f***s," he said harshly, humiliated that Fraser knew. "And then I get up and put my clothes on and go home and the next day I'm normal, I'm a normal guy, you got it? I need that."
Rebecca pasted in an update from John H on his trip to Vietnam last night -- here's a link to it in Natter, if you skipped the overnights:

I will be dark until sometime Monday. I'm going to be speniding the weekend in fabulous Fundy National Park where I'll hiking, hanging out with friends & Jack, the wonder dog. Hopefully, this year, I won't fall in a flark!
Have a great long weekend everyone, and Happy Turkey Day to the Canadians!
I'm going to be dark for a little while (at least through the end of next week) until I get out from under some of this work.
Ugh.
And Sue, what the heck is a 'flark'? It's not in the Canadian Ox or the OED! Email me, I have to know.
Going to PDX early in the morning for the HP Lovecraft Film Festival.
So, I'll be dark, perhaps until after Angel. Unlike my last attempt at dark, there will be no ethernet-in-room.
See everyone in a while.
Grandfather back in the hospital on Saturday night. Nothing too serious this time. He was running a fever and rather than take any chances after the whole pneumonia/sepsis episode, my grandmaother took him to the ER. The Dr that admitted last time to the CCU was on duty and she admitted him right away and began IV antibiotics and Viagris, an antibody of some sort, I think. Anyway, temp was a few degrees above normal yesterday and he might be home tomorrow or Wednesday. So far, chest films aren't showing a recurrence of the pneumonia and the blood work is clear of sepsis. So, we'll see.
