I'll be offline for three days attending a conference out of town, and don't expect to be around much at all for the next two weeks. I gave notice at my job and will be frantically trying to tidy up loose ends before leaving.
Then I can spend my one week off catching up on a gazillion posts before starting my new job on the 28th.
I'm going to be mostly just lurking for a while, since a recent health problem has gotten extremely worrisome, and I've been both put in a brace and advised to keep the "fine tasks" to a minimum until there's a definitive diagnosis.
George W. is coming to my town today, and I'll be attending the adjacent peace rally. I'm looking for some good signage ideas. If anyone attended any peace rallies over the weekend, and noticed or created anything especially nifty, please email me at lingmao@iac.net. Thanks!
iiiiiieeee!
That job interview I've been burbling about. It's most likely happening TODAY, at either 3 or 4pm (Left Coast time).
breath in breathe out
ok -- I need good vibes to get mem home tonight. I did one of those things which shouldn't be able tohappen. I put diesel fuel in my car. I just started it -- and was able to get it smooth -- but I don't leave work 'til 9. good vibes that I make it home and use enough gas to throw some hi-test in.
Okay. I know now my LA schedule. It is not a happy one.
I will be in LA and free from 10 pm tomorrow night until 10 am Wednesday morning. Much of which time I expect I will be asleep, due to jet lag. I go back early evening Wednesday. Which I think makes it un-possible to see LAistas.
Damn and blast. Not to mention, I'll miss Buffy!
Also, I will be staying at the Airport Sheraton. Guess I'll bring my earplugs. Oh, well. Next time ... so close, yet so far!
I have a new car!!!!!!!!!
That's right, after months of torturous car shopping, I am now the proud owner of a 2003 Kia Spectra. It is silver, and has A/C, a CD player, and after today, will have cruise control. It was so exciting to get in and see the odometer reading 38 miles! I had to leave it at the dealer last night so they could install the cruise control, but they will be delivering it to me tomorrow. In the meantime, they gave me a Ford Ranger pickup to drive.
Although I will be paying for the damned thing for five years, I am happy to report that I got it all by myself, no co-signer, and I got a fantastic interest rate (6.25%). Boston Buffistas, expect to see me as soon as I can find a free weekend!
It's official. I have a new job. After causing me much panic yesterday, I got a voice mail at 9am this morning. I called them back, worked out a couple of details and accepted the position. I start on Tuesday.
Can I say WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, it's almost-dark me. I didn't get that job as court advocate -- they hired in-house, BUT they liked me and asked if I was interested in the position the woman is vacating.
I said yes, of course. So we shall see.
Miss you all, but on the upside, I am obnoxiously cheerful about my last 2 weeks on the job.
grr argh. I didn't get the Xbox editor position. My interview went really well, but the ONE editor who wasn't AT my interview offered the position to someone who he interviewed for an entirely different position. Hmmph. Oh well, onwards with the job search.
