I have a new car!!!!!!!!!
That's right, after months of torturous car shopping, I am now the proud owner of a 2003 Kia Spectra. It is silver, and has A/C, a CD player, and after today, will have cruise control. It was so exciting to get in and see the odometer reading 38 miles! I had to leave it at the dealer last night so they could install the cruise control, but they will be delivering it to me tomorrow. In the meantime, they gave me a Ford Ranger pickup to drive.
Although I will be paying for the damned thing for five years, I am happy to report that I got it all by myself, no co-signer, and I got a fantastic interest rate (6.25%). Boston Buffistas, expect to see me as soon as I can find a free weekend!
It's official. I have a new job. After causing me much panic yesterday, I got a voice mail at 9am this morning. I called them back, worked out a couple of details and accepted the position. I start on Tuesday.
Can I say WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, it's almost-dark me. I didn't get that job as court advocate -- they hired in-house, BUT they liked me and asked if I was interested in the position the woman is vacating.
I said yes, of course. So we shall see.
Miss you all, but on the upside, I am obnoxiously cheerful about my last 2 weeks on the job.
grr argh. I didn't get the Xbox editor position. My interview went really well, but the ONE editor who wasn't AT my interview offered the position to someone who he interviewed for an entirely different position. Hmmph. Oh well, onwards with the job search.
Attention Ellen or other Somervillains!
In a strange case of deja vu, I need directions to the viewing tonight. Please drop me a line at victor@quantumredhead.com.

Finally got my review and I'm actually quite happy with it. It addresses all the crap that happened prior to April, but my supervisor made it a point to say "greatly improved" and the like if she wasn't giving me an all out compliment which I'm surprised about because she doesn't hand them out readily. And, I got a 3% raise! So, all in all, went well.
I am a HOMEOWNER! (ok, co-op shareholder)
After a fabulous whirlwind Buffista-filled trip to the East Coast I am traveling back to San Francisco tomorrow. Wish me luck as I make the incredible eastern seaboard dogleg, flying down to Baltimore, going to Dulles, then flying to SF. It's going to be a long day.
I was very dark today and probably will be during the work day tomorrow as we got new iMacs at work and people will be hovering around my desk trying to set it up.
I'll be going semi-dark for the next week, as I'll be in Sydney, making sure (in John's absence) that the whole city hasn't been destroyed by bushfires, seeing my sister in an opera, and visiting friends, including one who's had a baby since I've last seen her. (The baby's called Lilah! The parents are not
Angel
watchers AFAIK.)
