Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
Not to burden anyone with down news but merely to explain in case I vanish for a bit: Joanne's father has been very ill for several years, and critically ill since February. 18 days ago Joanne made the decision to have his feeding tube stopped, but though we expected death to follow rapidly, amazingly (and really, unfortunately) he continues to hang on. However the end is clearly near, and it is quite possible he'll die on Tuesday (in which case I'll catch a taped version of the final Buffy as soon as I'm able). So if I don't chime in on the last episode Tuesday or Wednesday, that will be why.
If the Buffistas care to send any vibes, vibe that he doesn't die next Friday, which is J's birthday. It would be a shitty thing for her to have to think of his dying every birthday from here on.
Going dark for the next four days. While DH is doing actuarial convention stuff, I'll be lying on the beach drinking rum drinks and net access is an unknown factor.
I'm taking my Introduction to Biostatistics final exam tonight at 7:30 pm EST. Test-ma would be so very appreciated.
Grayer than expected -- so if some one needs to get a hold of me ( say Kat about F2F money) email is best
Some pictures from my UK trip. Arranged roughly in chronological order.
Anyone feeling like giving constructive criticism on my resume, I have it in pdf format at this web page:
[link]
Click on "resume in pdf format."
Or the resume in word .doc format can be found if you copy the link and change .pdf to.doc.
I just don't put a link straight to my .doc file for a semi-secure-don't-want-editable-version-being-circulated-maliciously reason.
Call me paranoid.
I am desperately looking for an .mp3 accompaniment track for Petula Clark's "Downtown". For my boss's retirement part we would like to sing a 'filk' she wrote to that tune about our department, but I am a little scared of lots of tuneless people trying to sing downtown without anything keeping us together! I don't even know where to begin. If anyone has any hints, please e-mail me a ntlr at rochester dot edu.
Thanks!

I think the first download is free. Haven't tried it myself ...
I will be dark this weekend because I'm going to Balticon.
Going gray again for the weekend...off to the Indy 500.
