Hi Buffistas! I know I see many of you around on the internet and i know I'm friends with many of you on FB. And also that October is the de-lurking month so I'm early.
But I wanted to say thank you. When I met you all, I was a sad and lonely law student in an unhappy marriage. You all became my friends and stuck with me. You also educated me. I'd never met people like you all before - wicked smart, funny, quirky. You introduced me to ideas I'd never come across before.
Today, I won an asylum case for a transgender woman from Mexico who has been through horrible abuse. I've worked hard to become the advocate I am today but you all (and Buffy!) helped guide the way. I just wanted to say thank you for being a shining, human, imperfect, but full of love, safe place on the internet. I owe you all a lot and miss you all!
I know I'm not here as often as I'd like, but if you could spare some of that all-powerful Buffista job~ma on Thursday, I'd really appreciate it. This is potentially an amazing opportunity, and I'd like very much for it to work out.
hey friends if you could shoot me your immigration law contacts near Galveston/Houston asap - profile addy is good. I've emailed Stephanie but this is kind of emergency mode.
In case anyone not on FB very often missed it the Somervillians are planning brunch with Laura on Sunday October 14th. If you're in the area and want to attend, please comment on my FB post for our group or email me at my profile address. I'd like to have a final count so I can make reservations over the next few days.

Not quite a full acceptance, but I did get good news today!
The foster dog I am to get is in Lafayette, LA and the org is trying to get it transported here, but has no volunteers there. I can drive out 2-3 hours to meet them, but that is at most half way. If anyone knows someone nearish to Lafayette that would be willing to drive a dog to Shreveport or Tyler, or over to Houston, we could get to there. Or if we know more than one person that we could pass the dog along the route. Let me know, please.
My 91-year-old mom is in the hospital with a broken wrist and a cracked pelvis. Any ~ma you can spare would be appreciated.
So I cracked a joke this morning about the cold weather almost killing me....and now I've been in the hospital/ER for most of the day with something they thought might be heart related but is starting to look more like really severe anemia. Which is a good direction but still undetermined. It's nothing ~ma appreciated.
Asking for spare ~ma and such for my mom, who will be starting chemo soon for cancer: the return, this time it's skeletal. Her doctor still thinks she'll make it to 90 (she's 82), but it's been a shitty health time on the parental front for a few months and I'm a walking frayed nerve at the moment.
My father died in November. -ma would be appreciated as I attempt to tie up his affairs and figure out what the hell comes next in my life. I don't know if any Buffistas other than vw ever met him, but here's the obituary for anyone curious about someone they never met and now never will: [link]
