Early: Where'd she go? Simon: I can't keep track of her when she's not incorporeally possessing a space ship. Don't look at me.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I just found out that my elderly cousin Pat, whom I often visited and took out to dinner in Memphis, passed away last night. Word is she went quietly and didn't suffer. I knew her time was probably drawing near, but she seemed more or less okay when I visited her two weeks ago and I hoped we'd have more time with her.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Add me to the ranks of pregnant Buffistae - we're looking forward to welcoming the new addition in mid-November.

(edit: I'm not really announcing this anywhere else on the Interwebs, though I might use my f-locked LJ as a place for rantings/ramblings.)

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Dammit, I hate writing these: [link]

I'm about to post a link to a companion piece, with huge honking trigger warnings, in Great Write Way, because ... catharsis, I think.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Drew and I have been in the ER since about 5:30 this morning due to intense gut pain. With his history, we didn't want to take any chances. It looks like it's a kidney stone. Bad news because intense pain, but good news because anything that isn't pancreatitis is good news. Still, relief from pain-ma would be appreciated

ETA: We are home. Big ol’ stone, so urologist appointment and possible treatment to follow, but very relieved that it’s not something more serious (though I’m very sorry that it’s something so painful).

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Daniel and I just got back from the veterinarian with Harvey - learning how to give subQ fluids. During his regular check-up they found he is in chronic kidney failure. Age-related, as he is 17. Kitty~ma requested, please and thank you.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

So I have just completed a short book that intend to see published as a free e-book. It is only 50,000 words, but thanks to my eyesight, what should have been done in six weeks took close to six months. Its current working title is "No Hair Shirts Energy Policy for Greece".

One of the reasons I've been so dark grey, is that pretty much every minute I'm not doing chores or medical stuff or working out has been spent on this book. My TV watching has been confined to during work outs, or when my eyes are too dilated from medical treatments to interact with a computer screen. (You can follow a tv show pretty well just seeing fuzzy outlines of the characters and scenery, though I'm sure I miss a lot of nuance.) I've also rationed my time on social medai pretty stringently. I think the result is good; I could spend another six months editing it, but I think it is fairly urgent to get out.

I'm sitting in a videoconference suite downtown waiting for my interview. Wish me luck, or at least not to completely melt down.
