If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me
Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
Popping in to ask for some ~ma. Daisy Jane's cousin Kara, friend to me and Nora, all-around kickass chick, is in the ER with what we hope are just side effects of a new drug regimen for her melanoma. Please and thank you very much.
eta please turn that ~ma up to 11. She has a hemorrhaging brain lesion. Her sister, mom, and partner are all there.
x-posting from fb: My friend Kara is in surgery to remove the bleeding brain tumor. Please continue to send prayers, vibes, good thoughts, voodoo, invocations of Neil Degrasse Tyson, white light, or just shake your fist at the heavens and declaim "F*ck cancer!"
And of course, my Buffistas, all forms of ~ma are welcomed.
eta: 11:00 am: Kara UPDATE: She is out of surgery, the report is excellent; Dr says she is "extremely stable" but she can't go to Super Sunday.....Also, Dr wants her to stay very calm for today He says she's had enough excitement in the last 35 hours. More updates will be coming here, keep checking back & we will be posting more about how to help & things needed. the entire family CANNOT thank you ALL enough for the outpouring of support you have all shown.
In case you've missed it, my vacation in the U.S. AKA trying to see as many of you as possible will take place next month, and being discussed in F2F (the announcement, including details, is here: Shir "F2F5: I forget that everyone isn't us" Apr 10, 2014 10:30:58 am PDT )
For questions, comments, and if you need the link/invitation to the infamous spreadsheet that helps me to decide where to go, just say so (in the F2F thread or directly to my profile addy).
Thank you, all. I'm equally excited and grateful for the chance to finally see you and anxious to have very little time to plan it properly.
I've got a new piece up at Hilobrow on the French film director, Georges Franju.
As ever, Mr. Phelps, if you find it to your liking, I would appreciate any Likes or Retweets.
Health~ma please. My dad is in the ER with a possible heart attack and severe GI distress. We're waiting on bloodwork now and he's headed for a CT scan in an hour.
Thank you everyone for the ~ma. My father is at home, resting. No heart attack, but a really severe case of GI distress. CT scan was clear and there were no signs of infection. No surgical intervention was necessary, but 2 doses of dilaudid were. I would really not like to go through this again for a while. I'm so lucky to have you all in my life.
A little fuzzy still but I can see on the computer with not too bad a zoom. Read the newspaper though not the comics. Eyepatch off and pain gone. Think I'm safe to drive again.
Laistas! Shir is coming to town in a couple of weeks. She will be crashing at our place in Pasadena, and we'd like to host a cookout (veggie and meat options) on Saturday, 5/10, starting around 6pm. If you're interested, please pop over to F2F and we can talk details. I'll also put together an evite with directions and such--if you could send me an email with your contact info (email and cell), that would be very helpful.
As of this afternoon, I have completed all of the requirements for my program, so you may all now refer to me as Dr. Esse. Or, you know, continue to call me Debet, whichever.
Not sure yet where I'll be landing once I pass my certification exam.
Grace is headed to UCLA for surgery this morning. They are going to try to remove her trache tube. The surgery starts at 7:30 AM. All surgery-success-ma appreciated.
