Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Thank you everyone for the ~ma. My father is at home, resting. No heart attack, but a really severe case of GI distress. CT scan was clear and there were no signs of infection. No surgical intervention was necessary, but 2 doses of dilaudid were. I would really not like to go through this again for a while. I'm so lucky to have you all in my life.

A little fuzzy still but I can see on the computer with not too bad a zoom. Read the newspaper though not the comics. Eyepatch off and pain gone. Think I'm safe to drive again.

Laistas! Shir is coming to town in a couple of weeks. She will be crashing at our place in Pasadena, and we'd like to host a cookout (veggie and meat options) on Saturday, 5/10, starting around 6pm. If you're interested, please pop over to F2F and we can talk details. I'll also put together an evite with directions and such--if you could send me an email with your contact info (email and cell), that would be very helpful.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

As of this afternoon, I have completed all of the requirements for my program, so you may all now refer to me as Dr. Esse. Or, you know, continue to call me Debet, whichever.

Not sure yet where I'll be landing once I pass my certification exam.

Ohio Buffistas: I suspect none of you live near Kent, but if you do, I will be at Kent State for a journalism fellowship for two weeks, and I have the weekend of July 12-13 free if there's any chance you want to get together.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Some pictures from last weekend when Shir, dcp and Sail Aweigh visited: [link]

There's also some Buffista pictures from my visit to Cincinnati on May 10th.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Now it can be told. About 3:30 on a Monday afternoon, I found out that the University of Georgia wanted to evaluate Arthur for a kidney transplant right away. Like the next day. So the next day, we got in the car for a 10-hour drive (in the rain) to Athens, GA.

Long story short -- Arthur has a new kidney, he's doing great, the donor (a big gray and white boy named Joey, from the character on I Friends, we drove home on Friday, and I'm a month behind on posts. Oh, yes, and Arthur is a celebrity in veterinary circles at UGA.

Oh, yes, and Athens, GA, is a great place to spend a month.
