The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I'm going to be travelling later this month. I'll be in:

Amsterdam from 21 August to 24 August
Oslo from 25 August to 27 August
London from 28 August to 02 September

...and I'm thinking seriously about taking the train from London to Paris for a day-trip, probably on the 31st.

Anyone in the area interested in meeting F2F?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I have arrived in Florida safe & sound.

Took the Eastern route. South of the Border is all I dreamed and less. Sort of amazed you can get there without a TARDIS.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I revised certain sections of a book proposal at the request of a senior editor, because I assumed too much knowledge on the part of the readers. The revised section is very short, and I wonder if anyone who is NOT knowledgeable in fields of economics and global warming is willing to glance at it and tell me if it is clear. While all feedback is welcome, if you don't want to spend a lot of time all I really need to know is if it is clear to someone who knows nothing or very little about those two subjects. Profile addy is good.

[on edit] I realized that the length is 2,800 words. So definitions of short may vary.

[on edit the next day] Revision done with much appreciated help by Erika

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

A request for some of the patented job~ma tomorrow at 11:30 AM EST, I have an interview. Job's okay, not great, but will get me on a good path.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I'd really appreciate some health~ma for my brother, please. He had a seizure at work yesterday (which, unlike me, has never happened to him). Turns out he has a lesion on his brain. Further tests to follow this week to determine what it is: cancer, an infection, or something else. I'm still getting brief updates. They're moving him from ICU to a regular room later today.

move out and draw fire

Not even in the same league as amyth's request, but if you have some it's-nothing~ma, I could use it. There's a lump, and while I don't think it's anything, still, lump.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The Zmayhem are off to attend a wedding over the weekend, and will have limited computer access.

See y'all when we get back.

(much -ma to Raq and amyth)

Always Anti-fascist!

Mom is going to the dermatologist because she is concerned about something on her arm. It's probably not a big deal, but -ma never hurts.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I would appreciate some gentle loving ~ma wafted towards the Midwest. Dear friends of mine had and lost their baby girl, all in one day.

Bro update: he's out of the hospital, for a week, but hasn't been cleared to go back to work. Spinal tap and chest and abdominal scans all came back clear, thank goodness! The neurologist wants to wait and see if the lesion grows any larger before doing anything more, because it's in such a delicate area. Apparently, even a biopsy could cause brain damage, so they don't want to do anything they don't have to do.

The good news: it doesn't appear to be a metastasis from lung or other cancer, which was what I had originally feared, and it's small enough that it's not immediately life-threatening.

The uncertain news: they still don't know what the heck it is, and may not for a while. My SiL is taking him to a specialist at Columbia for a second opinion next week.

Thank you all for your continued ~ma! This also happens to be my busiest week at work of the entire year, so I haven't had much time to jump into the threads and thank you all individually, but I am so very grateful.
