We're moving to the East Coast. North Carolina, to be specific. Cary, NC, to be precise. My wife has just accepted a position with the Town of Cary as a sustainability manager. I'm hoping to leave policy work behind to teach high-school English. Don't have the exact day now, but we're planning to have our house here in Austin on the market by the end of March.

I've been pretty absent from everything but the show threads lately, but I am popping in now with a heavy, heavy heart, to ask for peace of transition ~ma for my beloved surrogate mom.
Her husband, one of my most unique friends, died this morning at 97. A while back, I mentioned that Gordon had declared that this was his year to go. He proved true to his word, bless him.
Thankfully, his suffering was less than might be expected and he was at home, with family.
I'm so, so sad for Niki. She is a gift of immeasurable value in my life and Gordon has been her whole life.
All good thoughts are appreciated, but I don't need brackets. I am going to sleep soon, to let the sadness wash through me.
If you are interested in a bit more about Gordon, here is my blog post about him.
If I could get some unspecified medical~ma in about an hour, that would be great. I'm hoping to be worried for no reason.
Stop the ~ma. Arrived too late.
Probably going pretty dark for a few days.
[edit: Not trying to be cryptic. Not pregnant anymore.]
Could I get a little peace and strength~ma for my Aunt Barbara and her family? My Uncle Larry passed away, yesterday, at 85. A long life, well-lived, but it's never easy losing a loved one even in the fullness of time.
Thanks!
Hi everyone.
I'm out of the hospital and physically doing well. Still kind of a wreck emotionally, but every day it gets a little easier. Not better, but easier.
I'm not quite ready to start having actual conversations with the other humans, but I am reading and I want you all to know what an immense comfort the Buffistas have been during the past few days. Thank you all so much for the outpouring of love and support - it's meant the world to me. (And to everyone who's emailed, thank you thank you thank you. I doubt I'll be able to write back individually, but thank you thank you thank you.)
And if anyone knows whether or not baths are allowed after a D&E, PLEASE POST THIS INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. My OB is on vacation, the OB I saw at the hospital is busy delivering babies, I have no idea when the midwife will be getting back to me, and I'm really starting to smell bad here. (Dr Google is providing contradictory answers, so I call upon the even more all-knowing Dr Hivemind. I could shower but I'm still pretty anemic and I don't want to risk falling.)
Health-ma would be appreciated for Drew. We are in the ER getting him checked out for severe abdominal pain.
He's having tests done now. The doctor suspects a gall bladder issue. We won't know how serious or what the treatment will be until after the ultrasound. Thanks for all the good thoughts.
Update: Drew will need to have his gall bladder removed, but not right away. Painkillers and low fat diet until then Relieved he's ok.
For all of you frequent fliers out there in Buffistaland: are any of you American Airlines fliers? All of my (and boyfriend's) miles are on United, and we're looking for a nonstop out of Boston to London. United/Star Alliance doesn't do direct flights out of Boston, so we're looking to "trade" by having someone book an award flight for Steve on American, and he or I will do the same (on United) for you (at whatever point you'd need them).
It would be a huge favor. It's for my graduation ceremony.
(And I know you helpful folks will come up with other tips, but we're pretty set on what we need. We know what our paying options are for flights out of Boston, and we'd really rather use FF miles if possible).
