Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

The status is NOT quo.

I just got the final reception pictures from our photographer friend, and there are a few more cute Buffista shots: [link]

move out and draw fire

So, LA-istas, I'm in your fair city for the weekend (and maybe longer, since all the airports in DC are shut down). Anyone want to to dinner Sunday? F2F.

Okay, one more (and Aims, I can make this private if you want): Aims reading Joe's awesome speech at our reception. The video quality isn't great, but I'm so glad we have this. Warning: allergy-inducing.

Please hold while I adjust for technical difficulties.

Finally fixed it. It's here on YouTube: [link]

As mentioned earlier, allergy-inducing. And awesome.

My sister is participating in Operation Freefall: The Two-Mile High Stand Against Sexual Assault, which raises money for SOAR to help combat sexual violence. She has a fundraising goal of $1000 by March 15th.

Here's the link if you want to give money to help throw my sister out of a plane!

Punishingly Intricate

hey, so, we are having a pretty serious health thing going on here. Bob had a medical test last week and they found a tumor. Tests aren't completely done yet but the doctors are "99.9%" sure it's cancer. They are still trying to figure out exactly how big and far along (I guess) it is but it looks like he'll be having chemo/radiation and surgery and possibly more chemo in the next few months. The doctor we saw yesterday said that we could expect to give a year of our lives to this. The outcomes from this kind of tumor are generally very good, so there's that, and he has good insurance and a secure job w/ disability if he needs to take it and we have a great support system. But, as you can imagine, we are pretty scared and overwhelmed by it all right now.

Your good thoughts our way would be much appreciated.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

We're moving to the East Coast. North Carolina, to be specific. Cary, NC, to be precise. My wife has just accepted a position with the Town of Cary as a sustainability manager. I'm hoping to leave policy work behind to teach high-school English. Don't have the exact day now, but we're planning to have our house here in Austin on the market by the end of March.

Compassionately intolerant

I've been pretty absent from everything but the show threads lately, but I am popping in now with a heavy, heavy heart, to ask for peace of transition ~ma for my beloved surrogate mom.

Her husband, one of my most unique friends, died this morning at 97. A while back, I mentioned that Gordon had declared that this was his year to go. He proved true to his word, bless him.

Thankfully, his suffering was less than might be expected and he was at home, with family.

I'm so, so sad for Niki. She is a gift of immeasurable value in my life and Gordon has been her whole life.

All good thoughts are appreciated, but I don't need brackets. I am going to sleep soon, to let the sadness wash through me.

If you are interested in a bit more about Gordon, here is my blog post about him.

If I could get some unspecified medical~ma in about an hour, that would be great. I'm hoping to be worried for no reason.

Stop the ~ma. Arrived too late.

Probably going pretty dark for a few days.

[edit: Not trying to be cryptic. Not pregnant anymore.]
