Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

Two baby announcements in a row!

My sister Nora, who has posted here in the past as RahRah, just had her baby. He is 9lbs 6oz and is 21.5 inches long. She and her wife Kira are naming him Simon Felix.

I am sick, so we decided I shouldn't go to the hospital. I'm on tenterhooks waiting for a picture.

Yay! I'm an aunt.

Smart people can be stupid too

I don't we can really get away with two posts for one baby, but I can't resist the opportunity to chime in with more auntie-love for Simon!

He is *gorgeous* (and huge!) and RahRah and Kira are amazing.

Yay! I am also an aunt.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Some ~ma would be welcome around here. As we were driving to meet my brother for X-mas Eve dinner, my mother finally realized that the symptoms she's been complaining about (but NOT, as I kept asking, calling her Dr. about) for the last few days, needed to be dealt with. We spent X-Mas Eve at Urgent Care, and they admitted her tonight. Sometime in the last day or so she had a minor heart attack, and will be in the hospital for at least a couple of days as they monitor her and decide how best to proceed. Minimal-damage and finally-start-eating-better-and-exercising-wake-up-call-ma would be more than welcome.

Merry Christmas to us.

Her family hasn't heard from her for about 36 hours so she could be in other parts of the bay area quite easily

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Cross-posted with Bitches. Allow me to present you with, oh, let's say 65 new photos of Ryan (and relatives of Ryan), starting here: [link] Includes Christmas in Canberra. Also includes photos of my nephew Brody, who suffered an aneurysm around a year ago: [link] You will note, among other things, that he has very impressive hair. Especially since his dad's almost completely bald.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I just posted about this in Goodbye & Good Riddance, but it seemed worth a mention here too:

I'm engaged!

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

We are in Maui! For those who would like to follow our pictures during our Hawaii wedding/honeymoon trip via Flickr, I've started a public feed here. I will be adding to this feed throughout the week.

The ceremony will be this coming Tuesday around 6:30-7:00PM board time (there's only two hours of difference right now since we're all on standard time). You will be there with us in spirit, and we will toast you at dinner!

Fiber request:

If any of you have either jeans you don't want or other jean weight fabric and you want to send it to me, I'll pay for postage because I'm collecting some to make rag rugs. It will be nice to have something from people I admire adorn our rooms. Also, white wool sweaters please. If you have any and want to get rid of them, I'll pay postage.

If you do and you want to help out, email me at msgullo at gmail dot com. Thanks!
