Not fired. Potentially sold to our new industry partner. Huge sigh of relief.

If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me
Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
I hope no one objects to my posting this here. Please say if it's a problem.
My wonderful friend Imogen, who I've known for many years, has a progressive muscular condition. She uses a wheelchair and needs a lot of help to access the world, but she does fantastic things with her life, and is currently studying art and photography at university. She has recently lost the ability to speak, as a result of something going wrong during emergency surgery. Our beloved National Health Service won't provide her with suitable speech synthesising equipment, because it's too expensive, even though she is completely lost without the ability to communicate. The NHS wanted to give her a card with the alphabet on that she could point at. Given that she has both a movement disorder and severe dyslexia, this isn't working out particularly well.
Imogen is therefore trying to raise £7000 (around $10,000) to buy communication device herself. She and her friends have raised an amazing £2000, but donations are now slowing down, and she's not sure where to turn. She has asked people to publicise her cause. I couldn't think of anywhere better to pubicise it than this, the board where one individual Fay makes PepsiCo apologise for their applications and people generally achieve incredible things.
Imogen's website is at [link] and her Facebook group is at [link] (when Facebook can be bothered to function properly).
Thanks for any publicising that people feel inclined to do, even just re-twittering ( [link] ) or similar. It's hugely appreciated.
I could use some job-ma. I put in an application for a job that I am quite qualified for and would be a big piece in the Things Working Out puzzle.
Oh sweet jiminy Christmas, y'all, we need the house buying ~ma in the worst way. We're finally putting in a bid on our dream house in Seattle and I've got all sorts of grabby hands sort of want for this one.
Could I get some of the patented Buffista job~ma sent to the midwest from 12:45 to 3:30pm CST, today? I've got a whole panel of people to impress! Eeep!
The time has come for an announcement - I am pregnant!
Due date is May 23rd, no idea about gender yet.
First sonogram showed a healthy heartbeat and adorable yolk sac, so it's possible I'm having a chicken.
I am engaged.
Requesting that strong Buffista health~ma for all the residents in the group homes that I work at. There has been a confirmed case of H1N1 flu at the work area where several of "my people" work. I had hoped that I would have access to the vaccine before it reached us, as I would hate to either be a vector of disease between the group homes, or down for the count when they needed me most. But the vaccine has not been available here yet.
Okay, I'm a very occasional Buffista (although I may be able to participate more in the coming year due to MAJOR life changes), but this is big news for me. After nearly a year spent working on it, my first-ever album is out. I just received the CDs from DiscMakers today and they should be available via CDBaby in a couple weeks. For Bay Area Buffistae, I'm playing a CD release gig on 10/23/09 and I know at least a couple Buffistas are likely to attend. Details and RSVP here: [link]
You can listen to the album - Songs the Brothers Warner Taught Me - for free here:
You can also buy the album for download there and I'll get 100% of the $ instead of the smaller portion I'll get from iTunes/CDBaby sales. You'll also get a bonus track if you download there.
It's very exciting for me so I hope you'll excuse my posting the news here even though I have been mostly a lurker here for awhile.
If I could request some health-ma, my upstairs neighbor, who's also my landlord, had some kind of accident yesterday. I talked to him around noon as I was going out yesterday, and he was working on the roof. When I got back home last night, nothing looked out of sorts (and the ladder was taken down), but something happened at some point.
According to his brother, he has some cracked ribs, but more critically there's also some kind of swelling in his head. It's obvious he hasn't been conscious since this happened, because the hospital tracked down his brother by calling me (since we're both in the phone listings under the same address).
