If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me
Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
Suzi's "Farewell Brunch" (at my place in San Bruno, CA) will now be on: Saturday the 28th of June! From Noon-3.
(I get back from vacation on the 2nd, have a wedding out of town on the 7th, birthday is the 14th, and b.org F2F in Madison is the 22nd. So, that leaves the 28th.)
I really hope this doesn't mean any previous "yes" will be turned into a "no" but I am sorry; I just know that if I kept it to the 15th, I'd end up spending my birthday cleaning and prepping, and as much as I love being a martyr (eye roll), I don't love it that much!
We will have mimosas (or screwdrivers!), coffee, tea, fritatas, quiches, salad, bagels and all sorts of delights.
Please email me at profile addy if you can make it.
We're taking Legion to the vet this afternoon. He hasn't eaten in a week, can't climb the stairs anymore, and is showing all the signs of wanting to go meet the stone cats.
A little ~ma for us and the bestest kitty in the world?
Legion T. Cat, 1993-2008.
Thank you guys for your thoughts and kind words.
Kitty-come-home~ma would be appreciated. The gate blew open and Byron got out. He hasn't been on his own since the amputation, and I'm a wreck.
ETA: That's some speedy ~ma! He's home, thank goodness. Thanks, everyone.
a little bit of nonspecific get-the-gig~ma (and also some corresponding may-you-be-able-to-come-through-on -what-you-say-you-can-do~ma) would not be misused, if there's any out there to spare.
Can I request some surgery~ma for my mother early tomorrow morning? She's having her gallbladder removed.
My father wrote the first critical filmography book about Sydney Pollack in 1981, and the two became friends. I just found out that Pollack died of cancer today. I know my father is going to be devastated that he hasn't seen Pollack in years and never got a chance to say goodbye. I raise a glass to Pollack for being an amazing Hollywood director, producer, actor, and all around nice guy--and, more importantly for me--a friend to my dad.
He died too soon and will be missed.
My (new) company had layoffs today.
Thankfully, this time, I *didn't* get laid off. Though I must admit, my coworker was pretty surprised at how accurately I called the signs, after I was saying I didn't like the looks of this mysterious last minute all hands meeting without an agenda...
Can someone notify the universe that although I was laughing, it really wasn't a *funny* joke?
Some oral surgery~ma in my direction would be appreciated this morning.
