Bayistas - I'll be out in y'all's neighborhood from 4/3-4/10. Currently under discussion are brunch on Saturday 4/5 and dinner on Wednesday 4/9. I'll also have some daytime availability, for those who can't make those times.
We're discussing in the F2F thread.
This is going to sound so freaking weird.
Does anyone remember reviewing/editing a Buffy script back in 2002-3 that I wrote?
Short version, I wrote it for giggles, send it out to folks for comments/edits, got comments back and then promptly forget about it for years.
Fast forward to earlier this year. I had a couple old hard drives that I finally backed up onto a new external hard and came across the script and the various comments and suggested edits that I saved.
And just like that, it became an open loop that needed to be closed. Something that was posted in response during the WGA strike made me realize that I had walked away from it since it seemed to be futile, something that never would go anywhere. But the whole point (this was the David Milch's videos) was to just do it and not worry about the point, what the script was for, and just let the script be itself.
So when I finished the Serenity RPG adventure and the TokyoPop script assignments, I turned back to the script and started going through all the comments, suggested edits and notes. I finished it yesterday,
A five year old script isn't a useful spec or anything inherently useful, I know that. But its purpose for the time being is to be done and it will probably thrown it up on a fanfic site somewhere.
Those folks that gave me comments back then, they deserve to see the new version. But here is the thing, I can't find any names attached to the old comments, and looking through the archived threads isn't giving me any clues. I have a couple of ideas of people to contact, but I thought I would do a general all-call to see if anyone remembers commenting on...
Every Day Crisis , a 5th season episode Post-Riley but pre-Body where the gang has to juggle an endless array of menaces but worse yet, meet their everyday obligations of school and work.
If you do, let me know at CaBil@aol.com...
Ms Havisham and I will be attending the New York ComicCon in two weeks, April 18-20th.
Any Buffistas attending that will like to do a F2F, feel free to contact me at CaBil@aol.com
I have biggish news. The Bitches know, but I thought I'd share with the whole board.
Yesterday I finished my senior honors thesis--three WHOLE days early! This is BIG. And the best part? It's actually a good, interesting, well-written, and a potentially influential thesis, completed with quite a big chunk of original work. I am thrilled. Actually, I am beyond thrilled. I am ecstatic.
I wrote about the process in my Beauty and the Bug blog entry for this week (some of you may have noticed that my weekly blog has been on hiatus for about a month thanks to so much school work). You can find that entry here: [link]
As the blog entry notes, I will be posting a link to the complete work for those who are interested in reading it. It's a short 32 pages (including cover page and works cited pages) :). So, check back mid next week to see me prove my point! (Yes! She not only has a point, but she proves it!)
I am more than a little excited about all of this, so I wanted to share with everyone I know.
Due to the evil influence of the House of Reason, I have become addicted to Mighty Leaf Tea. As a result, I have decided to purge my former tea collection--lots of unopened herbals, greens, Earl Grey packets etc. If anyone would like them, email me and I will box the lot up and send them to you. Profile addy good.
ETA: The tea has been claimed.
If you still want to see that episode of Merv Griffin's Crosswords that I taped it should be on tomorrow (Monday).
Calling all fans of Gilbert and Sullivan and/or me! For a recent medical writers conference, I wrote and directed a musical skit based on The Mikado. As it extols the virtue of the serial comma, I thought Buffistas would get a kick out of it. I was fortunate enough to get the whole performance on video; it's fifteen minutes long.
