Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

I need advice. Ms Havisham and I are attending NY Comic Con in two months, and last year we ended up staying out by Newark Airport, and that did not work out well at all. The year before that we stayed with Buffistas (Hi Trudy!) but that option is not available this year.

It looks like the only way we are going to spend less that 250 a night is stay out in Jersey, but I thought I would ask here and see if the hivemind can offer us any suggestions...

I am looking for speakers of either Acadian or Quebec French, to get the feel and slang of those particular dialects. If anyone can help me, drop me a line at the profile's email.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Test results came back today. According to the ultrasound all my innards are apparently where they belong and in the correct shape, so all is well there. However, the blood test revealed I have a stomach infection.

Fortunately, taking a ridiculous number of pills every day for two weeks should clear it up, so all is more-or-less well.

I release the health~ma back into the wild.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

My beloved Aunt Mary Jo, of Pope-killing fame, had a quickly scheduled hysterectomy this morning.

The bad news is that it is cancer.

The good news is that it appears to be contained.

I am working very hard to believe the medical members of my family who are insisting that this is good news as far as cancer goes.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Buffistas!

I have a book reading & signing coming up at Booksmith (scroll down. Pause to note that I am there one week before Anne Lamott) on Friday, March 14th, at 7pm.

Please come!

I promise to be engaging and funny. And there will be drinking afterwards.

As an extra added incentive, we will have JZ and Matilda there wearing matching gingham dresses!

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

A little kitty~ma would be appreciated...my older cat Byron, who has been my companion for 14 years, has an odd growth on top of one of his back legs. It's lumpy and disconcerting and has probably been there a long time before I noticed it since his fur covers it visually and it's not an area that I normally pat. I'm taking him in to the vet on Friday and am really nervous about it.

I'm also taking the kitten in for a weird bump, but I'm pretty sure that is from a shot he got--some of the liquid got caught in a pocket when he jumped. Not as nervous about that.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

So in a fit of complete insanity and fed up with our houseness, we've kind of made an offer (and had it accepted) on a different house. Now begins the long and painful process of selling off the existing house and, if that happens later rather than sooner, balancing two mortgages.

A little peace, love, understanding, close on time, and SELL SOON AFTER LISTING ~ma would be adored.

Meep.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

It's late notice, but it looks like I have some time free on Sunday if any of the Chicagoistas want to get together for brunch/lunch/dinner or other fun stuff. We can plan in the F2F thread or via email (profile addy is good.) I'll be in the Northbrook/Deerfield area, but I'll have a car so getting somewhere else won't be a problem.

I won't have the opportunity to check the board during the day tomorrow, but I'll catch up in the evening. If there's something urgent, email is the way to go.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

My cat, Josie, has taken a turn for the worse. Heading to vet now, probably for the last time. ~ma requested for one of my closest friends.

ETA: They admitted her for more treatment. We'll see what happens. Keep the ~ma flowing, please.
